Harry's POV
"Alright, I trust you." Niall sighed.
I stood up and made my way over to the window to find Brian and Olivia still sitting on the table, the water now at about a foot. I inspected the distance from the top of the window to the ceiling, noticing it was about three feet.
"Niall, how long since the water started?" I asked as I tried to do the math in my head.
"It's been three minutes since we sat on this table. I've been counting. It was about two minutes before that." Olivia said, confident with her assessment of the time.
"Okay, so it's gonna fill about a foot every five minutes." I said, thinking about loud.
I knew that left fifteen minutes from the time the window was completely submerged to the time the room was completely filled with no air left for them. Fifteen minutes to come up with something else if this plan failed.
"Alright, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna use the water to our advantage." I said, trying to sound more confident than I was. "I need you two to start kicking the window, all around the edges, as hard as you can. Stay on the table and just kick the shit out of it. Then start to move your way in to the middle. I'll tell you when."
"What's that gonna do?" Brian asked as the two of them shifted to the edge of the table so they could reach the window.
"Hopefully it's gonna loosen some of the old concrete that's holding it in place. This window was installed forever ago, and we need to break down whatever is keeping it in the frame. We're not gonna be able to break the actual window, so we need to apply as much pressure as we can to knock it out of the frame." I said as they both kicked all around the edges of the frame.
"So you're hoping we can kick it right out." Liv said as she thrust her foot into the far corner repeatedly. "How is that using the water to our advantage?"
I looked over at Niall and took a breath before I looked back at them. Brian was looking at me, already knowing he wasn't gonna like what I had to say.
"We're gonna wait until the water fills up to fully cover the window, increasing the pressure on it. The pressure from the water, paired with you two kicking it this way, should hopefully pop it out. The cold temperature of the water will hopefully freeze everything around it, making it extra hard so it just snaps. Niall and I can try to crack the glass from this side but we have a better chance of just popping the whole thing out." I said.
Brian looked up at the ceiling and I knew he was estimating the amount of time they had to actually kick the window out once the window was covered.
"So if it's a foot every five minutes, we've got like fifteen to twenty minutes to get it out before we drown in here." He said, raising an eyebrow.
"Pretty much." I responded.
"But once the water rises you won't be able to kick as hard because of the water resistance and your limbs will go numb pretty quick so we need to loosen it as much as we can now." Niall added.
Brian and Liv looked at each other, before Liv looked back at us and shrugged.
"Well...I guess if it's our only shot, it is what it is." She sighed as they both continued to kick at the edges of the window.
"We'd help on this side, but we don't wanna push anything back in that way, we need all the pressure coming this way." I said, feeling helpless that there wasn't much we could do.
"It's alright, we got this." Brian said as he held his fist out and Liv bumped it with hers.
Considering it was a life and death situation, it was almost funny to see the way they both seemed to be taking it in stride, but then again, Brian had always been like that. Olivia had always seemed a lot like Niall with his carefree nature, but I'd also seen sparks of fire in her from time to time and she was definitely proving that she could work well under pressure.
