Hannah's POV
I struggled to breathe as I held Harry in my arms, unable to get air into my lungs as the shock from the cold water took away my ability to inhale. I hadn't even realized what had happened until I looked over at Niall and saw the water up to his chest as he sat on the floor. Our eyes went wide as we looked at each other, realizing the window had given out and Liv and Brian may still have a chance.
Niall jumped up as I leaned Harry against the wall, his body surrounded by the freezing water up to his ribs as I tried to catch my breath. My arms and legs were already numb from the temperature of the water, and I struggled to keep my legs under me as I lifted him and propped him up. I knew the water wouldn't be rising any higher and eventually drain out of the room, the door wasn't sealed and the water was already flooding out of the opening at the bottom of it.
Niall and I knew we had to get Liv and Brian as we frantically searched the room for their bodies. It had only been a couple of minutes since they went under, and I knew that if we could get to them and perform CPR they might still have a chance. We had to get them out of the water and warmed up as soon as possible. Every second counted, if it wasn't too late already.
I looked over to see Niall scoop up Liv while he looked around desperately for Brian. I ran over to the table and flipped it back over while Niall laid her down on top of it before going back for Brian. The water was absolutely freezing and my legs felt like they were being stabbed with a thousand knives as I climbed onto the table and Niall pulled Brian up onto it.
"Okay, Niall you know CPR?" I asked quickly, my teeth chattering.
He nodded, and I felt relief wash over me knowing I wouldn't have to waste time showing him. Thankfully, growing up with a Dad who specialized in emergency medicine, I'd been taught CPR and general first aid very early in life. My dad had always emphasized to me how important it was to know certain things and said that anything can happen to anyone at any time, and you never know when you might have to save a life. I suddenly understood the importance of everything he'd tried to instill in me.
Niall leaned over Liv, tilting her head back as he tried to breathe the life back into her before he began doing compressions on her chest. I did the same to Brian, knowing it could take a while due to the temperature of their bodies and the fact that their blood wouldn't be pumping effectively when their bodies were that cold. That's when I looked over at Harry, and it hit me.
"Niall, we have to keep the boys in the water." I said as I looked over at him. "We have to keep them in the water, and these two out of it."
We both continued CPR as I explained to him the best chance for the boys survival.
"The temperature of the water will slow down their circulation, their blood won't pump as fast and they won't bleed as much. It'll slow down their blood loss and give them a chance to survive. We need to warm these two up so their blood starts to pump better so their hearts can function. CPR could take a while but this can work. We can all get out of here."
"Okay, but the water is draining. Soon there won't be any left in this room." Niall said quickly before he breathed another breath into Liv's mouth and started compressions again.
"No, but the other room will. The pipe is still filling, and the area below the window has nowhere to drain, it'll be like a small pool in there. If we can get them in there we can slow their blood loss, take them out every few minutes to make sure they don't get too hypothermic, then put them back in. It's their best shot."
"How are we gonna move them and do CPR at the same time?" Niall asked as I blew a breath into Brian and went back to pumping his chest.
"Well we have a bit before the room drains. For now they're in the water." I said, knowing we'd have to figure that out when we came to it.
