You stared at the pregnancy test in your hands, mouth agape. It was positive. How could this have happened? The sudden pregnancy shocked you, but in a good way. You had always dreamt of having children and becoming a mother and now your dream was going to come true. But you didn't know how your boyfriend was going to react. The two of you hadn't spoken about having children yet, you had only been together for eight months. It was way too early to even bring the subject up, but now you had no other choice. You had made up your mind already. If Jake didn't want the baby, you'd raise it by yourself. There was no way you were going to get rid of the miracle growing inside of you.

You heard the front door open and the voice of your boyfriend soon followed. You swallowed your fears and emerged from the bathroom, the test clutched in the hand you held behind your back. He leant forward and kissed your cheek. ''Did you cook dinner yet?'' He wondered. He had always been demanding and even a little controlling, but you learnt to live with that. ''N-No.'' You stuttered, not able to hide your nerves. He looked at you, eyes holding coldness. ''Is there something you want to tell me?'' He inquired, sensing you were hiding something. You nodded and swallowed thickly before attempting to speak. ''I- uh, I found out that I- uh...'' You couldn't get the words out. His cold glare intimidated you and you were simply too afraid to mutter the words out loud. You slowly moved your hand towards him and showed him the pregnancy test. ''What is this?'' He growled, taking it from you. ''I-I'm pregnant.'' You stammered. The look he gave you after you spoke the words sent shivers down your spine. Never had he looked at you with so much hatred and you just knew something bad was going to happen. ''Get out of my house.'' He hissed. You tried to protest and reason with him, but he wasn't having any of it. ''OUT!'' He yelled. Without warning, he grabbed your arm and pushed you out of the door, leaving you alone on the streets without any of your possessions.

You had nowhere else to go. You had moved to London with your boyfriend shortly after you started dating. The closest family members were still miles away and you had no money. You were terrified. What was going to happen to you and your unborn child now? You had nothing. No money, no food, no shelter and no connections who lived in the city. Deciding that staying close to your previous home wasn't a good idea, you started walking. The city was big enough and you would easily be able to hide from Jake. You knew that running into him would cause major problems. You considered yourself lucky to not have ended up with cuts and bruises after giving him the news.

After possibly hours of walking, you reached a park. You didn't recognise it, but that wasn't a surprise since you hadn't gone out much since you moved in. You sat down on a bench, the sun engulfing you as it began to set. It was a beautiful and peaceful moment and you briefly forgot about your horrid situation and troubles.

Suddenly, you heard a bark behind you. You turned around and saw quite a big dog staring up at you. You smiled and patted the empty seat next to you, inviting it to come closer. The dog happily obliged and let you pet it, enjoying every second of it. ''Toby?'' You heard someone shout. ''TOBY!'' A man appeared from behind a set of trees, holding a leash in his hands, but no dog. You looked at the dog next to you and smiled. ''Shouldn't you be heading back to your owner?'' You asked it. He barked again and sat down, wagging his tail excitedly. The man had apparently heard his dog and walked towards you. ''You have a lovely dog.'' You smiled. ''It's not mine.'' He said coldly, attaching the leash to Toby's collar. The man straightened up and took his time to properly scan you. His gaze softened as he deduced your current situation. ''Come with me.'' He suggested, reaching his hand out towards you. You looked up at him quizzically. ''Why?'' You wondered, not really trusting the stranger. ''I have a spare room. You can live in my flat until you get back on your feet. A pregnant woman shouldn't be sleeping on a bench.'' You stared at him in awe. ''How- How did you know I was homeless?'' You stuttered. The man smirked. ''I deduced it.'' He stated proudly. ''The name's Sherlock Holmes. Now, grab my hand and let's get you home.'' Trusting him enough, you took his hand and allowed him to guide you to his flat. What could be worse than your current situation?

''Tea?'' You called out. Sherlock soon shouted back, taking you up on your offer. You smiled and opened the cupboard to get some mugs. Your growing stomach was already getting in the way of doing daily tasks, but no matter how annoyed you got sometimes, you couldn't be happier to be expecting. You were six months along and your doctor had confirmed the gender. You were going to have a beautiful baby boy. No one knew this yet, but you had already chosen a name for your bundle of joy. You were going to name him Will, after the man who helped you when you needed it the most.

Ever since you had moved in, Sherlock had been there to assist you. He went with you to every doctor's appointment and offered a helping hand whenever you had trouble doing a simple task. He was willing to do anything if it meant seeing your smile every day. But he, unfortunately, was the only one with that mindset. Mycroft and John were having some doubts concerning you. They were convinced that you'd leave soon if Sherlock got closer to you. They didn't think you would be able to handle Sherlock's behaviour in a relationship. You were expecting a baby and the detective's lifestyle certainly was not a safe one for such a young child. Mycroft had tried everything to prevent his little brother from developing strong sentimental feelings for you, but to no avail. Sherlock had fallen in love with you and simply refused to listen to anything his older brother and best friend said. Every time it was brought up, he'd simply scoff and state clearly that you wouldn't leave. He meant more to you than that. He was aware of that and so were you.

You took the steaming teacups to the living room and handed Sherlock his, which he gratefully accepted. There was a knock on the door. You were about to answer it, but Sherlock jumped up and pushed you behind him. ''Stay behind me, okay?'' You didn't understand why he was behaving like this, but you nodded anyway. Sherlock opened the door and your mouth dropped. Jake stumbled inside, obviously drunk. His clothes were torn and he had dirt all over him as if he took a swim in a trash can. ''(Y/N)!'' He slurred, pointing at you. Sherlock protectively stood in front of you as he tried to get your ex out of his flat. ''How did you find me?'' You asked, your voice trembling in fear. His drunk state had always been the most violent one, and it utterly terrified you whenever he acted like that. ''I followed you!'' He confessed, trying to walk towards you on his wobbly legs. Sherlock placed his hand on Jake's chest and pushed him back a little. ''Don't you dare come near her, do you understand?'' He threatened. ''I wasn't talking to you!'' Jake spat. He redirected his attention back to you, his cold eyes threatening. ''You should've got rid of that kid when you had the chance, (Y/N).'' You shook your head, tears threatening to spill. ''You will never meet your son, you bastard. I'm keeping him and you shall not lay a finger on him.'' You objected. ''I'll get rid of it if you don't.'' He slurred, stepping dangerously close to Sherlock, who was not letting him go near you.

Jake's words finally sent Sherlock over the edge. The detective gently pushed you back a little more before punching Jake in the nose, breaking it. Your ex-boyfriend clutched his nose and hurriedly ran out of the flat, leaving his empty beer bottle behind.

You sighed in relief. Sherlock slammed the door shut and was soon by your side. ''Are you okay?'' He asked, looking at you intently. His eyes screamed concern and you couldn't help but smile. ''I am now.'' You said softly. You stood on your toes and pressed a soft kiss on the surprised detective's lips. ''Thank you, Sherl.'' You muttered.
