Phil's P.O.V.

Louise left a couple of hours later, after Jay had woken up and was more active, so she helped Louise cook lunch. Dan stayed asleep the whole time, his head resting on my lap and didn't react to any of the noise we made, even when I was talking at full volume.

After Louise had gone Jay settled back down in the living room and we turned the television on, careful to keep the volume down low enough so it wouldn't disturb Dan. We decided on Adventure Time, something Jay had never seen before and I refused to skip past it once I knew she hadn't seen it.

Lunch came and went and because I couldn't move, Jay made sandwiches for the both of us. I discovered that she liked tomato quite a lot I had made a note to mention it to Dan later, so we could get some more when we went shopping later in the week.

Thinking forwards, I realised that we still had a lot to prepare for Vidcon, make videos, pack, alert everyone and so on.

"Jay, how do you feel about flying?" Her eyes widened, moving to look at me.

"Wait there's flying?" I nodded.

"It's in California, the flight is like 20 hours or something, we haven't go any stops because it's direct." She looked nervous, but I was glad to see it wasn't fear.

"Oh. I don't particularly like flying but it's okay. Mostly bad memories." I sighed, but I couldn't reach out to hug her without disturbing Dan so I just smiled, hoping she knew why.

-----------------------------------------------------

Around 3 o'clock was when Dan first started to stir, opening his eyes sleepily and gave me a tired look, his eyes still closing. I leaned down and captured his lips gently, tilting his chin up so I could kiss him properly. He smiled, kissing back and we stayed there for a good few seconds until I heard the sound of someone retching.

I turned around to see Jay grinning, pretending to throw up over the side of the couch. Dan was looking at her too, but he was smiling, attempting to shuffle up into a sitting positon.

"PDA!!! Ughhhh!!!" She was still smiling, I could see mischief in her body and the way her eyes lit up gave me a lot of hope.

"Well that's what comes from being a couple doesn't it?" My voice was cheeky, I could even hear it myself and Dan certainly did too because he leaned up again to kiss me again, his lips grazing against mine.

I heard a choking cough from Jay and then footsteps going out of the room and up the stairs. Dan, his lips having pulled away from mine to follow Jay out of the room, turned back to me, and I saw the love of my life staring back up at me.

Gently, carefully, I ran my hand down his cheek and twirled his hair around my finger, moving my other hand to trace his collarbones, which had been exposed by his sweatshirt. He laughed, swatting my hands away and trying to catch them, grabbing one before the other one moved down to his ribs.

I heard a scream and my head turned to the door, only to hear several thuds and then silence. I scrambled up from the couch, accidently pushing Dan to the floor and running out into the hallway as fast as possible, to the foot of the stairs.

Jay was sprawled at the bottom of the stairs, her body limp and eyes closed. I scream out and dropped to my knees, turning her over so I could see her face. She didn't move, and I could a massive bruise forming on her head, one of her legs twisted at an odd angle behind her.

Dan came out behind me, I only knew because he gasped and fell to the floor beside. With tears in my eyes I turned to Dan, and with urgency, I spoke.

"Dan, call the police, please, hurry..." I could hardly speak without my voice breaking but Dan understood and rushed back to the living room to grab his phone.

Turning my attention back to Jay, I turned her onto her side into the recovery position. I could see her breathing, it was struggling but still there so I didn't worry to much about that.

I could hear Dan talking in the next room and he came back to my side pretty quickly, turning the phone onto speaker.

"She fell down the stairs, she's not conscious and I think her leg is broken, it's at a weird angle."

"You have a friend there, yes?"

"Yeah I'm here." My voice was still thick with tears, but the 999 operator understood me, continuing to talk.

"Is she breathing? Normally?"

"She's breathing but it's struggling a bit. There's a huge bruise on her forehead too."

"Okay, we're sending the emergency crews in now, it could be serious because of the bruising."

A groan emitted from Jay's mouth and she started to move, her head tilting to the side. I stopped her trying to move her head after a high pitched whine sounded in the room and her face screwed up in pain, her fingers twitching.

"Jay? Jay can you hear me?" Her eyes flickered open and she looked at me, trying not to move her head. Dan snuck around behind me, grasping onto Jay's hand. She squeezed it back, a small mewl leaving her mouth as she tried to move again.

The operator was still talking, Dan replying back every now and again. I could hear sirens wailing in the distance and I think Jay could hear them too, because she relaxed a slight bit, her grip on Dan's hand relaxing.

A knock on the door sounded and Dan ran to open it, leaving me alone with Jay again. Her face was still screwed up in pain and just before the emergency workers entered the room, she reached up and grabbed my hand, pulling it into her chest.

I used my other hand and ran it through her hair, hoping to relax her a little. I knew she was in immense pain, with a suspected broken leg and probably a concussion, as well as bruises and possibly other broken bones.

I was crying, tears full on streaming down my face and some dripping onto the floor. She was still clutching onto my hand, pulling it into her stomach and curling around it, almost in a fetal position. She looked up at me.

"Don't cry Phil, I'll be okay." Her voice was hardly a whisper and laced with pain, but somehow she managed to force a smile onto her face, even through the pain.

"It'll be okay Jay, you'll be fine. I promise."
