Dan's P.O.V.

I was standing in the kitchen and leaning against the bench, watching the pot of peas boiling away. It was just past 4 o'clock and the food for Christmas dinner was almost ready, after a few hours of cooking and preparing things.

Jay had been wandering in and out of the living room and kitchen with her prosthetic, practising walking around. She had come and stolen little bits of food on occasion, just to keep her going for a little while we were waiting for everything to cook.

Phil had spent most of the time standing behind me with his arms around my waist and his head in my shoulder, just being generally cuddly. Not that I minded, but there were occasions when he just got in the way and refused to let me go, squeezing my waist tighter.

"Jay! Food!" I heard the clicking of her crutches, as she had probably taken her prosthetic off, and her head appeared around the door. I pushed her over the table at once, making sure she was sitting down before I returned to the kitchen, this time carrying plates of food out with me.

I placed them onto the table one by one and then turned to the plates and cutlery that Phil had set out earlier. I placed them at the three places where we would be sitting before hugging Jay from behind, mostly just waiting for Phil now.

He came out within a few minutes and sat down in his seat, passing out food to everyone. Jay grinned at me across the table before digging into her own food, just enjoying Christmas, the first Christmas she'd had with us because we'd first met her in late January.

After Christmas dinner we all settled down in the living room to watch the Harry Potter movies again, as it was just something Phil and I decided to do. We wanted to make it a tradition, watching the Harry Potter movies every Christmas, so there was something to look forward too at the end of the year.

It didn't take long for Jay to fall asleep, around 9 o'clock at about the end of the second movie. Phil on the other hand had just decided to rest his chin on my head and lie still, digging it into the top of my head and tracing his fingers along my stomach gently.

I had spent the whole time with my legs curled up underneath Phil's and they were starting to get numb, so I pulled them out from underneath him and rolled onto my stomach. I was lying directly on top of Phil now, who was on his back, and he just grinned at me, digging his chin into my head again.

I reached out for his hand and twisted the ring around his finger, the same one that was on my finger. I hadn't noticed it before but the date we met, the 19th of October 2009, was inscribed in the middle of the ring in fancy lettering, eternally reminding me of that fateful day.

At the end of the second Harry Potter movie, just past 10 o'clock, Phil started to fall asleep on me so I shook his shoulder.

"Come on, let's just go up to bed okay." He nodded his head and then attempted to stand up, pushing me off him and onto the floor with a thump. I glared at him but instead went for Jay, picking her up carefully to take her upstairs.

In the time she had been with us she had managed to hit five feet tall, she had grown at least an inch in the almost year we had known her with the proper food and less stressful life... at least in the start. She had also gained a lot of weight, natural weight and the weight from the baby obviously, and had probably added an extra 10kgs since then.

A year ago she probably couldn't have tipped the scale at 40kgs soaking wet and now with the weight she had gained, from having proper food and now the baby, she was probably around 45kgs now.

I carried her up the stairs carefully and took her to her room, tucking her into bed before following Phil into his room. We tended to swap which rooms we slept in, it didn't really have a pattern or matter at all, we just slept where ever we wanted too.

"Dan?" I looked up to see Phil standing in front of the doorway, blocking the doorway and holding out his arms for me. I gladly obliged, reaching forward and hugging him tightly, burying my head into his neck and staying there for a couple of seconds.

"Can we just go to sleep?" He nodded into my shoulder, taking my hand and pulling me onto the bed where he dragged the covers back and fell on top of them. I quickly followed, curling around Phil's back and dragging the duvet up to cover us.

Phil was quick to entangle himself around me and bury his face in the back of my head, his arms going around my waist. I felt his nose on the back of my neck as he started to move his head around and I sighed happily, squirming back into Phil's grasp.

"You're warm." I barely heard Phil's snort through my hair and he poked me in the back.

"Obviously, I'm alive." He squirmed around for a couple of seconds before settling down again, his eyelashes flickering against the back of my head.

"Night bear." He yawned, squeezing my waist.

"Night lion, love you."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I yawned, squirming around under the covers before I tried to open my eyes. I was alone in the bed, Phil had already gone and a good while ago too, as his side of the bed was cold and his pillow was on the floor. The only reason I wasn't cold was because there was a blanket over top of me, Phil probably having placed it there.

I pattered down the stairs with a blanket around my shoulders and into the living room, where Phil was lying upside down on the sofa, his legs hanging over the back and fingers just touching the ground. He looked up at me as I came in and motioned for me to come near him, holding his arms out for a hug.

I fell onto the couch beside him, laying my head on his chest and kicking my legs over the arm of the chair where it was more comfortable. Looking around the room I also saw Jay, fast asleep and lying on her side with a pillow under her stomach, with a blanket pulled over the majority of her body.

Phil's arm snaked around my chest and smiled up at me from his lower point on the couch.

"Our parents get here today." I nodded.

"We should probably get the guest room ready." Phil's parents were staying with us in the house and my parents were staying in a hotel for a few days, because they were only staying for that long, a few days. Phil's parents were staying for at least a week, they hadn't confirmed the exact dates yet.

Phil sighed.

"I guess, but that means we have to get up." I poked him.

"Lazy bum."
