Dan's P.O.V.

Jay was knocked out again, the oxygen mask placed back over her face. Just a few minutes before her eyes had rolled into the back of her head and she had started shaking, which meant the nurse had to use a sedative and some sort of chemical to calm her down.

It had scared the life out of both Phil and I but the nurse had reassured us quickly before running off to fetch the doctor. Officer Briny was still standing in the door, looking considerably worried and shaky, something we hadn't seen him do before. He was always strong.

"Alright I just need to do a check over but I think she may have regained at least some of her memory. I know she was already in shock, the nurse has been watching her but this is all just an upset." They were empty words, I knew the doctor was trying to reassure us but as far as I was concerned it wasn't working.

"She'll only be out for 10 minutes to half an hour, the drugs aren't very strong and it's mostly to get her brain to stop working in overtime." I sighed, nuzzling into Phil's shoulder. I was tired, it was well past 8 o'clock by that point and the room around was quiet apart from a few voices of children chattering almost silently.

10 minutes passed slowly and I spent the time counting in my head, 1, 2, 3, 4 minutes. When it reached 15 minutes by my count Jay started to stir again, her eyes flickering and I heard a tiny groan emit from her mouth.

"Hey Jay, easy, we're here okay." Her eyes slowly opened again and looked straight at me, tears starting to fill her eyes. She let out a tiny whimper, the tears starting to spill over and she raised one of her arms to wipe them away before she closed her eyes again and started to cry.

I moved over and pulled the chair closer to the bed, running my hand through her hair. I knew I couldn't do anything, I didn't even know the details myself but something told me that she knew exactly what had happened, and not just some things. Everything.

The nurse came back into the little cubicle thing and once she saw Jay was awake she came over and gently wiped away the tears with the edge of the sheets.

"Hey kiddo, you remember don't you?" Jay put one of her thumbs up as a yes instead of nodding and I saw her chest heave as she started to cry again, the tears falling thick and fast, body shaking.

Jay's P.O.V.

I was completely choked up, everything setting in on me at once. I had been raped, my leg had been amputated and I had almost died but that wasn't what was upsetting me, what was upsetting me was the fact that my father was dead.

I knew it was weird but he was my father and biologically he was ment to be someone I cared about, and although it didn't give a shit about him, he was still a human who had played a major role in my life. Even though it was a terrible role in my life, I still cared about humans, even terrible ones.

I could feel either Dan or Phil's hand on my own and another hand wiping away my tears with a tissue. I didn't mind it but after a couple of minutes a brushed the hand away, rubbing my eyes with my fist instead and screwed my eyes closed, just wanting to go home and pretend nothing had ever happened.

I groaned to myself, my stomach was aching and I didn't know why, but I ignored it.

The room wasn't exactly quiet, I could hear machines, children and nurses talking and the breathing of the three people in close proximity to my bed, who I could tell were considerably upset.

I attempted to stretch out my mid-section because it was sore but it only ended up hurting me even more as I shifted my leg and cried out in pain. I whimpered out loud, freezing my body and held myself there as I heard someone call for a nurse, a hand slipping underneath my back to support me and not have to hold myself up.

"Easy Jay, I just need you stay still and I'll get you back on the drip, for some painkillers." A couple of minutes later I felt the needle go into my arm and the liquid start to flow, my body relaxing in a matter of seconds. The hand disappeared from underneath my back and it instead ran across my forehead, comforting me as I started to feel sleepy from the medicine.

As my eyes closed I felt the nurse adjust my blankets and then a mask was placed over my face, just before I fell asleep.

When my eyes started to open again it was light again, my brain automatically knowing that the night had passed and it was morning. I groaned, the light was far too bright for me that early in the morning and when I did make a noise I heard someone else stir.

"Hey Jay, you awake?" I gave the thumbs up as I still hadn't had anything to drink yet and my throat was still extremely sore, much too sore to talk.

I could still feel the needle in my arm, I assumed to give me fluids, and I then yawned, trying not to move my neck too much because I could still tell that it was very painful without moving it. I saw the person, who turned out to be Dan, stand up and shake his arms and legs out before sitting back down.

Once he was sitting down I couldn't actually see him and it was a little uncomfortable because all I could see was the ceiling and a little bit of curtain either side of the bed, and I tried to reach out around my bed. I was looking for my dog toy but my heart dropped when I realised it wasn't there, it was probably at home.

Dan grabbed my hand, squeezing it gently.

"Do you want something from home?" I gave the thumbs up again, just wanting something for comfort and also a good book to read, as it was getting a little bit boring.

"Alrigh- Oh shit sorry..." A doctor had come around the corner and scared the life out of everyone, including Officer Briny and Phil, who were both still sleeping.

"Morning everyone, sorry about that, we need to change your bandages Jay so we need to take you to a different unit." I shuddered.

"I guess that means I get to see my leg..."

"Um, yeah."
