Phil's P.O.V.

As I stirred after being startled awake I felt someone's head on my shoulder and I yawned, squinting my eyes open. I could see Dan's head on my shoulder and I reached around to squeeze his hand, alerting him that I was awake and once he knew he turned around and leaned up to kiss me.

"Hey Phil." I hummed in reply and then turned my eyes to Jay, who was awake and staring up at the ceiling with seemingly blank eyes.

"Mornin' Jay, you okay?" She didn't move, just twitched her hand across the blanket.

"My stomach's sore."

I looked over at Dan, concerned at her response but he just shrugged, leaning over to whisper into my ear.

"She doesn't want to her bandages changed, I don't think she wants to see her leg." I nodded, knowing that there was more to what she was feeling, but Dan's explanation sufficed.

"Should we go home for a bit Dan? I think we need to get some new clothes and get some stuff for Jay." Dan looked over at Officer Briny who had been listening to our conversation and he nodded.

"Go on, I can look after Jay for a bit. You two could probably use a shower and a change of clothes." I nodded again, looking over at Jay who was still staring at the ceiling with no input to what we were saying.

I stood up, leaning over her so she could see me and giving her a quick and gentle hug before pulling Dan towards the curtain. We would get a taxi back and I was just pulling my phone out to call the company we normally used when the curtain in front of us opened and two nurses almost knocked us over.

"Oh sorry! Sorry about that, we were just coming to get Jay so we can change the bandages." Out of the corner of my eye I saw her freeze and cover her eyes with one of her hands and I could already see her fingers starting to tremble, making me feel terrible. When I hesitated Officer Briny shook his head at me, pointing away from Jay, a clear indication to go.

"Go, I'll look after her okay."

The drive home only took 15 minutes, compared to the normal drive of half an hour because the taxi driver offered to drive fast, sensing that we didn't want to be away from the hospital for very long. As soon as we pulled up in front of the house Dan and I rushed inside, giving the driver a nice tip.

I offered the shower to Dan first, going into our bedroom to lay out some new clothes and pack a bag for the two of us with another spare change of clothes, our laptops, chargers for both the laptops and our phones and a few random things we might need.

For there I headed to Jay's room, taking a deep breath before opening the door and stepping into the room. Looking around the room, I picked up Jay's laptop, her dog toy, the second and third Harry Potter books, a set of summer pyjamas because they had shorts, a set of clothes and then I looked around for her chargers.

I found both her laptop and phone chargers plugged into the wall and picked them both up before I remembered that we didn't know where Jay's phone was, if it was being held as evidence or if it was destroyed. I took the phone charger anyway, just in case.

I placed it all in a backpack and zipped it up, about to sit down when I heard Dan yell for me.

"Phil!? Can you get me some clothes please?!" I grabbed the pile of his clothes that I sorted out just before and took them to the bathroom, handing them around the door to Dan and then stood outside the door waiting for him to come out so I could go in and have my own shower.

When he did finally come out I saw his red-rimmed eyes and rushed forwards to hug him, feeling him relax into my shoulder and stay there for a few seconds before I pulled back, kissing him gently and using my thumb to wipe away his tears as they fell.

"It's okay Dan, everything is going to be okay."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was roughly 11 o'clock by the time we pulled back up outside the hospital in a different taxi, the driver who didn't go quite as fast as the last time. We both went up to the front desk and asked for Jay's room because when we had first arrived we had gone through the back, with the guide of a nurse.

"Fourth floor, ummm, room... 6C, it's at the end of the corridor." I nodded thanks and then followed the signs to the elevator and took it to the fourth floor. We then followed the corridor down to the end, counting the rooms on either side.

"5D, 5E, 6A, 6B... 6C!" We turned into the room and saw Officer Briny standing down the end of the room, tapping his foot.

"Briny? Is everything okay?" I could tell at once from his body language that something wasn't quite right as he was standing with his arms folded and his back straight, his eyes glancing around the room at great speeds.

"Jay's not back from having her bandages changed yet and no one's told me anything about what's happening."

"Wait how long has she been gone?" He looked at his phone for the time.

"An hour and a half? She left right after you guys did." I froze, looking at Dan worriedly. "Come and sit down, there's no point in standing around."

We went back into the little cubicle that Jay's bed used to be in and found that the area was surprisingly big without it. We both sat down in the same chairs as before, Dan automatically leaning his head against my shoulder and once he was settled down I pulled my phone out, going to keep my Twitter for the first time since we had posted the video the day before.

"Dan should I tweet that Jay's awake? I think people will want to know she's getting better." Dan nodded, still resting his head on my shoulder and playing with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.

Jay's awake now, gone to get her bandages changed but is keeping up with everything and responding well. Everything is still a bit much for everyone at the moment so we still won't be back for a little while, at least until Jay is out of hospital and we're back at home.

Dan nodded when he read over my tweet, approving me to send it out and so I did, then going to check the video we had sent out before. Most of the replies were positive, saying that they hoped that Jay would be okay and that we were feeling okay. It was the replies that I expected, and I didn't find anything of particular interest.

I jumped as I heard the sound of a bed being wheeled through the room and I turned my head to see the curtains being pulled back and Jay's bed being wheeled back with her lying on it.

The first thing I noticed was that there were no longer bandages around her neck, just a large, white, plaster looking thing instead. She was looking a lot more alert than she had been when we left, her eyes wide and she was able to move her head from side to side a little and could make eye contact with us.

"Hi." My eyes widened.

"Hey, you can talk now!" A small smile painted her face.

"Yeah, still sore but it's better than it was before."
