Phil's P.O.V.

"Okay so there's some stuff from us here..." Jay looked over at us after raising her head from the stuff that Dan and my parents had got her. I was holding a squishy package that I knew was full of clothes that we got her, but there was some other stuff behind me too.

She took that package from me and opened it carefully, taking every item out one by one and looking at them at each one at a time. There was a few pairs of jeans and sweatpants, some t-shirt and sweatshirts, the general stuff that you wore on a daily basis.

It was mostly for when she went back to school, which would probably be a few months after Phoenix was born, and for around the house. Dan and I had agreed to take on most of the baby duties once the baby was born and give Jay some time to recover from everything, hopefully so she could recover fully.

"Thanks!" I nodded, turning to Dan. I had a couple of special presents for him that were from me.

I handed him a package wrapped in the Dan and Phil wrapping paper and he took it from me, opening it. The first thing that fell out was a grey t-shirt and when he opened it he burst out laughing, almost attempting to throw it at me. The front read 'engaged af.'

The other things in the package included a Christmas ornament that said 'we're engaged! 2018' a picture with a frame which had the dates of the day we met, the date of our first date, the day we adopted Jay and the day we got engaged. The remaining thing in the paper was a necklace with a gold infinity symbol and the day we first met etched onto the back.

Dan covered his mouth with his hands before launching himself at me in a huge hug, burying his head in my shoulder. I grinned and hugged him back, running my hand up and down his back until Dan pulled back and gave me a quick kiss, sitting back down.

"You're so cheesy Phil." I poked him.

"I know, that was kinda the point." He leaned his head onto my shoulder and sighed, his hands wrapped around the necklace.

Jay was grinning, leaning against the couch to try and keep herself in a comfortable position. The pile of clothing and stuff she had accumulated was resting to the side and she was using some of the clothes to rest her leg up a little, as she didn't have her prosthetic on.

"Phil is way too cheesy for his own good, we all know that." I turned around to the Christmas tree and grabbed the other two remaining packages. One of them was a simple box, which I handed to her first.

She ripped off the paper to reveal a set of headphones, ones with cat ears on the top and decorated with in light blue. Dan and I didn't really know what we should have got her so we just got her a few things that we thought would be useful and give her something to do.

The last present was a little bit bigger and more misshapen, and I knew it was art supplies. There was a drawing pad, a pack of art pencils, some watercolour pencils and a set of miscellaneous art stuff, erasers, charcoal and some paintbrushes and little tubes of paint.

Her eyes lit up when she saw what was in the present and she let out what sounded like a crow or a cry of delight, her hands glazing the pencils and paper. When she looked back up she pushed the present to the side and reached out her arms for a hug.

I reached in first because I knew it was difficult for her to move and hugged her tight, letting her rest her entire body weight on top of me. Dan soon followed and we sat in the group hug for at least a couple of minutes before Jay pulled back and sat back on her pillows.

"Merry Christmas guys, and thank you." She was smiling happily.

I then turned to the only other remaining things under the tree, which was three stockings, one for each of us. We normally opened them first but for some reason I guess we had just decided to open the presents first.

The stockings were basically just large socks, which we had bought in the days before because we only had two in the house, and needed one for Jay. The stockings were bulging with chocolate, candy canes and little trinkets that we thought looked cool in the shop and wanted to get.

I handed one stocking to Dan and one to Jay, and Dan and I silently counted down in our heads, before the dumping the contents of our stockings onto the floor and startling Jay. It was something we did every year, just because we thought it was funny.

Jay sighed and then tipped her stocking onto the floor, spreading everything out so she could see it. There were a few marshmallow santas, a bag of chocolate coins and chocolate santas, some candy canes and then the little trinkets.

Dan and I had bought her a new phone case, a holographic bookmark, two thread anklets, a little heart shaped china box that was decorated with roses and a set of ten gel pens. It was mostly cheap little trinkets that we thought would she would like, and it seemed she did because she grinned.

"Thank you!"

Checking the time, 11 o'clock, I stood up and headed to the kitchen where Dan and I had started to cook Christmas dinner/lunch in the earlier hours. We had been up since about half past 8 and the small turkey we were cooking was in the oven, cooking for later that day.

Dan followed and poured out a bowl of cereal for Jay, who hadn't had breakfast yet, before disappearing back into the living room with the bowl. I looked around the kitchen at the rest of the food for later, including the potatoes for roasting, cranberry sauce for the turkey, the bacon, and the parsnips, peas and carrots.

There wasn't much of each item but it was enough for a few meals for the three of us for the next few days. There was also a non-alcoholic trifle, a Christmas pudding, cream and a jelly in the fridge, with ice cream in the freezer for dessert.

Alright, I thought to myself, let's get moving.
