Jay's P.O.V.

"Jay! Wake up! It's Christmas!" I opened my eyes and squinted up tiredly at Dan, who was bounding around on the end of my bed excitedly and trying to wake me up. I sighed and sat up, swinging my leg over the side of the bed and attempting to stand up.

At 7 months pregnant I couldn't move around without extreme difficulty so I tended not to go anywhere, down from my room in the morning to the living room, where I spent my day, only moving around to stretch my legs, have something to eat or go to the bathroom and then going back upstairs only to go to bed.

I hadn't left the house in at least a month, only going into the backyard on occasion to get some fresh air. Anais and the others came around every couple of days to keep me company and I was grateful that they came around, as it gave me something to do other than think or do the school work Mrs Livingstone gave me.

She would email things to do on occasion, mostly reading or practising my writing, so it wasn't exactly difficult but it did get boring.

"Alright, alright, I'll get up." Dan grinned, taking my hand and handing my crutches and prosthetic, which I didn't normally bother to put on until after lunch, when I tried my hand at walking around with it on.

My little boy, who I knew would be called Phoenix once he was born, had been kicking a lot recently and it was getting a little distracting, as he would do it at all hours of the day including when I was trying to sleep. Thinking about him and the name I had chosen made me smile.

I was starting to look forward to it, I was happy to put my past behind me and just move on with the future, which had a little boy in it. Phoenix James Lester. Because both Dan and I were going to change our last names to Phil's we had already decided to use Phil's last name.

I went with Dan's middle name to make sure he was part of the name and once I had told him what the middle name was going to be he went bright red and buried his face in his hands.

Dan took my hands and helped me down the stairs, the stairs which had Christmas lights strung madly around the railings and flashing wildly. There were decorations almost everywhere downstairs, Dan and Phil had gone a little overbaord with decorating but it still looked funny, little trinkets spread across the rooms.

It was just us three for the day, Dan, Phil and I, and most people were away on holiday with their families so there would be no one around.

As Dan and I got to the living room I noticed the smell of gingerbread floating around the house and I breathed it in, smiling. Dan noticed that I was sniffing around and grinned, breathing in the smell too.

"Phil's got some scented candles out, I don't think we've used them since you've been here." I shook my head, as they hadn't.

In the living room the Christmas tree had its lights on and Phil was sitting right by it, his back to the fireplace, which was on.

The weather was becoming increasingly more cold as the day went on and it had snowed lightly on occasion but not enough for the snow to settle and actually become something. We had had the fire on in the morning and at night for a few days running, mostly just to keep the house warm.

"Mornin' Jay!" Phil seemed very perky and wide awake, shuffling around on wooden floor next to the tree. I waved back to say hello and then pulled a couple of cushions off the couch so I could sit on them on the floor, where it would be more comfortable than just sitting on the wood.

Dan came and sat down beside the two of us, leaning into Phil and then turning around to grab one of the presents from the stack under the tree. Apparently Louise, PJ and Chris as well as both Dan and Phil's parents had given us presents and it had added to the already big pile.

"Okay so obviously there's presents from more than just us two, but we might as well give this to you first." I took the box from his hands and then laughed, staring at the wrapping paper. It was white paper with little heads all over them, Dan and Phil's heads.

"Yes those are our faces, we made wrapping paper ages ago and we still haven't used it all."

I started to rip the wrapping paper open and held out my hand, watching as a box fell from the paper and into my hand. It was a white box, rather heavy, with a picutre of an iPhone on the front, an iPhone 6 and I grinned.

"Thank you so much!" I leaned over to give them both hugs and then sat back, picking at the tape that kept the box shut. It was the same colour and model as my old phone, rose gold, and as soon as I opened the box I saw the sim card that was tucked into the corner.

"We knew you needed a new one because of what happened to the last one so, here you go!" I grinned, turning the phone on. I knew I'd have to get everyones contacts and everything else again later, but I had all day to do that.

The next few presents were things from Dan and Phil's parents, PJ, Chris and Louise. Dan and Phil had got a few funny gifts, a board game and a few other random things, including congratulations cards and a funny one from PJ and Chris that read 'when's the wedding? I DIBS BEING BEST MAN!'

I got some clothes from Louise, which included a really nice and warm sweatshirt, a couple of stretchy t-shirts for in the months to come and really big nighty or possibly a big t-shirt, to use and pajamas. PJ and Chris, who I had only really met once or twice, had given me the entire set of Harry Potter DVD's and a Gryffindor sweater and scarf, as apparently I was a Gryffindor.

Dan and Phi's parents had both given me a bunch of blue baby clothes, some for a newborn and some for when he was a little bit older, upt to a few months old. There was also a few baby toys and sort of the starter stuff you'd need for a new baby, bottles, bibs, newborn formula, a dummy, nappies, baby lotion and a baby monitor.

Baby stuff was really expensive so I knew that all the stuf that they had sent me was worth quite a lot and I made a comment to Phil to thank them later.

"Oh that's not everything they wanted to give you, they're coming down after new years and are bringing a cot and baby bath tub with them." I raised my eyebrows.

"Looks like they're going to be very involved in his life." Phil shrugged.

"Probably when they can, after all they live hours away." I nodded.

"That's probably a good point, but still, remind me to thank them later."
