Ch30 Hiding and Seeking

Hunk plates up pancakes for everyone at the table.

"Ohhh!" Coran's eyes sparkle as he slaps a hand on his pancakes. "Flat wawflies!"

"Shiro do we have any syrup?" Hunk asks as he sits down.

Shiro's eyes flash with trauma. "No..."

"Thanks for making breakfast for all of us, Hunk." Keith says.

"Yeah we all really appreciate it!" Lance pipes in.

Shiro frowns slightly as he looks round the table.

"You seem a little tense this morning," Allura says, placing a gentle hand on Shiro's shoulder.

"Well, I'm a bit confused." Shiro replies dully. "Why-"

"That's okay guys, I'm just happy to be here eating together with everyone!" Hunk says.

"It's true, we haven't all had breakfast together in a while." Pidge replies.

Shiro takes a long, slow slip from his juice, his eyebrows furrowed.

"This weird jelly stuff really works wonders! My voice has never felt better honestly." Lance swallows down a jelly cube before taking a sip from his milkshake.

"Just be glad you can't read Altean, some of those side effects written on the back of the box..." Pidge trails off and shakes her head.

"W-What is that supposed to mean? Pidge? Pidge am I gonna die?!" Lance panics.

"Most likely. I wouldn't risk eating any starch-based products; it will react with the alien ingredients in your stomach." Pidge says as she stacks Lance's pancakes onto her own plate. "Don't worry, I'll save you."

Lance whimpers and settles with sipping on his milkshake.

Keith leans over and whispers softly, "Lance, I think you just let Pidge trick you out of your pancakes."

"But I can never tell when she's joking or not," Lance replies. "If I don't listen to her I might die!"

"So, er, what is-" Shiro speaks up.

"So what are the plans for today?" Keith interrupts. "What's our next destination?"

"Now that Lance is better, we are going to organise an exhibition show at another city but we probably won't get there until tomorrow." Allura answers. "For today, we can all just relax and hang out like usual."

Shiro's expression strains with irritation.

"Yes!" Hunk says happily. "We haven't been able to just have some fun together in a while."

"Yeah, it'll be like the good ol' times before the coalition got serious." Lance replies. "Just everyone chilling together."

"We should all play hide and go seek in the castle." Pidge suggests.

"It is nice to have a break once in a while to spend time with everyone in the team, isn't it Shiro?" Keith says with a smile.

"Yes that's all fine and dandy-But what is Slav doing here?!!" Shiro exclaims.

Slav pauses at the mention of his name, a pancake halfway in his mouth.

Hunk raises an eyebrow at Shiro. "He's eating breakfast?"

"Obviously." Pidge adds dryly.

"Why am I the only one questioning this? Why are you here?!" Shiro asks in annoyance.
