I wake up the next day to two text messages. The first one is from Archie.

I text him back okay and that I'll be ready; Archie isn't going to get jumped or anything because he's driving his dad's car which looks like it comes from the Southside. I read my second text message which is from Reggie asking if I could go to dinner with him and his dad. I say yes and then we text back and forth.

I sigh and go to my closet looking for a more "Northside" outfit. I find some of betty's clothes that she gave me. I find a sweater and a skirt and put them on.

I put my hair in a half up half down and do light natural makeup. I cringe as I put on a pair of ballet flats. I grab my bag and phone; I grab a banana and head outside. I see Archie's car. I get inside and he stares at me.
"What the hell are you wearing?" he asks me when I get into the car.
"I'm meeting Reggie's dad today; he wants me to make a good first impression." I say simply. I smile at Archie. "It's fine; it's just clothes." I add.
"Yeah but Maddie these aren't your clothes. One I'm pretty sure they are betty's and two you dress just fine!" Archie says starting the car; obviously annoyed.
