"Thank you for coming!"

Kuroo called out to the slowly closing door, left behind by a customer who immediately took a run the moment they out from the comfortable coffee shop, wanting to get as little of rain as possible.

The dark haired man ran his hand through his locks; a heavy sigh escaped his lips when the glimpse of cold from the then-opened door hit him. He left his station, closing the door properly and breath in relief when the warmth of the shop once again trapped inside.

He walked back to his station, taking out a rag to clean the table. He was about to re-polish the cups when his eyes caught something.

There, in the corner of the shop was a girl sitting alone, the seat in front of her was empty but it wasn't on its original position, meaning someone must have sat there before. There were cups of coffee in front of her, untouched and probably had gone cold by now. And Kuroo would totally leave her alone if only he didn't know who she is and the fact that there were tears trailing down her cheeks.

The barista glanced at the patisseries on display. Sometimes, working in a coffee shop that was owned by your friend has some its plus too. Taking a small plate, Kuroo slide open the glass door, and took a slice of chocolate cake. He glanced around the café, and when he saw no movement, he left his station and went to the girl's table.

The look on her face when she looked to the cake before went up to his face was totally worth it.

"Thought you could use some cake," he said, sliding into a chair across her, "it's on me."

The girl glared at him, wiping away the tears on her face. "If I knew you work here, Kuroo, I wouldn't choose this place from the start."

"So you're saying you'll choose another café to get dumped in?" When the girl's face turned red in anger and tears threatening to spill once again, Kuroo held up his hands, "A-hole move, sorry, that was my fault."

"Is that really how you treat your customers? Wonder how you didn't get fired."

Kuroo laughed at that, "Well my boss is Yaku and he's my friend and you're also my friend so I don't think I'll get fired, maybe he'll hit me."

"Yaku?" She asked, unsure, "That Yaku Morisuke? The short one?"

"That short Yaku Morisuke apparently is here and heard everything you said." Turning to the sound, Kuroo barked in laughter when he saw Yaku standing beside them, hands on his hips, face clearly not amused. Turning to Kuroo, he said, "Shouldn't you be in your station?"

"You owned this place?" the girl titled her head, "what happened to volley? You guys were crazy for it back in highschool."

"Nothing is everlasting, [Your Name]." Kuroo replied, thankful when she dropped the topic. He, like everyone else, would not want to be reminded with an injury that took his young dream away.

"So what did he do?" Yaku suddenly asked, he gestured to the untouched two cups of coffee and to the door, referring to the customer that had left before Kuroo approached their highschool friend.

"Nothing unusual," she shrugged, left out a sigh to heavy for someone usually cheerful, "cheated and then blamed it on me."

Yaku opened his mouth to response, but before he could get the words open, the door opened. He pat Kuroo's shoulder once to keep him sit before going to the station and took the customer's order.

Kuroo threw his gaze to Yaku first, making sure he got it handled before looking back at [Your Name]. "If anything, I'm kinda glad you guys broke up. You deserve someone better."

[Your Name] laughed, smiling as she tucked a strand of her long hair behind her ear. "Like who?"

Kuroo shrugged, lean back on the chair. "I don't know," he tossed his gaze to the side, "maybe someone who give you free chocolate cake?"

[Your Name] snorted, covering her mouth with her hand. Her smile, though, dropped as soon as their eyes met and for a second, Kuroo stiffened. "I know from someone in highschool. That you... you know. Why didn't you say anything?"

Kuroo played it dumb, tilting his head to the side, "Didn't say what?"

"That you like me. Kenma told me once."

Kuroo felt his cheeks turned red, after this, he was so calling Kenma.

[Your Name] raised an eyebrow. Her eyes weren't red anymore and there were no tears tracks on her face.

"I—" Kuroo found himself gaping like a fish, "I—I wasn't sure about it, on how you would react." He ran his fingers through his hair, "after all, I was too deep into volley at the time. I couldn't possibly ask you out if I can't give you the time you deserve, look what happen now." As second passed, his smile eased.

[Your Name] didn't respond. Instead she leaned forward, taking the small fork neatly placed beside the chocolate cake. She took a bite, hummed when the dark and sweet collided on her tongue. "What about now?"

"Now?" Kuroo spread his arms wide, a smirk on his face. "Now I have all the time in the world. Not all the time, but you get the meaning. "

When she nodded and took another bite, Kuroo bit his lower lip, mentally slapping himself for suddenly feeling like a teen again. He fought the urge to scratch his cheek, hoping the red he knew exist there disappear.

"Thank you for the cake." [Your Name] said after the fourth bite, "it's really delicious."

"Your welcome." Kuroo stared at her, mind running of possibilities but then he shook his head, abruptly stood up. "I shouldn't—we shouldn't do this." He said, trying hard to ignore the way you look at him, "I can't—not when you just—"

"I don't mind."

"You don't?" Kuroo asked, letting out a breath he didn't notice he'd been holding. If Bokuto were here, he would definitely laugh at him. "Really?"

[Your Name] let out a soft laugh, taking a sip of the cold coffee. "Not right away—I mean, we don't have to jump straight to 'that' stage, but, we haven't see each other since highschool and I think it'd be a good idea to get to know each other again. We can try," she took another bite of her cake, "after all, I could really use a distraction."

Kuroo chuckled, looking at her, he couldn't help but smirk at the way she smiled.

"I should probably go back to work," he said, gesturing the now filled café as the rain outside stopped. Sun shyly coming out behind clouds. "Yaku will have my head if I don't go back soon."

"Oh, yeah, you should." She hold out her hand to the now busy Yaku handling customer with another worker. "Maybe another time?"

"Over coffee?" Kuroo asked, a bit hopefull. He couldn't help but grinned when she smiled at him.

"Over coffee."
