I found myself glued to the yearbook for hours on end, flipping through the pages as of junior year, trying to stir up logical conclusions to who could be True Friend.

I knew three details; they knew I was Miss Incomplete, they are gay, and they're a guy.

Unless, two of those three facts are wrong and I'm just searching for the wrong things nowadays.

The only ones I could find to match the description I've placed out was Julian, Graham, or Kenji. I, personally, think Kenji would've been a verdict, especially since he's my brother but what's the point of the whole reveal for? I mean, that would be shitty to betray your own blood. But, I knew in my heart that Kenji is not.

Graham on the other hand, he knows enough. He's a guy, but really, I don't suspect him to be gay. He has two girlfriends before — which didn't worked out obviously — but he cares about them, probably loved them actually. Maybe he's bi, or still trying to find out. Who knows? The actual question resides in why. Why would he do this? I'm his best friend, what's the point of exploiting your best friend? For popularity? Does he really want that?

No. That doesn't sound like him. He haven't given a single care about popularity since middle school, when I first met him. The whole thing that went down and ended with me punching him in the face really brought a new light in his eyes.

Last on my list, was Julian.

I know, it was pointless to put him on there. Plus, he denied all claims. I'm not saying he was lying, but it's the most to put there with the matching description. I'm pretty sure he's not gay, especially when he told me he likes me — or liked, who knows anymore with the sudden turn of events that has happened — but it's just there.

He has a motive, he's a guy, what's more to the card?

But, the only thing that crosses him off the list was when he told me in the middle of the locker room he didn't do it. The tone in his voice when I accused him, the look of disbelief. I truly believe he didn't do it.

Unless, it was a girl the whole time.

Now, there's more of a list going: Iris, Erin, the girls on my swim team, even so far as reaching to Julian's ex: Tasha.

Maybe Kenji was wrong, and maybe the girl was riding under our noses the whole time. Totally deceiving me from the start.

If it's a girl, however, the only real solution would be Iris.

My best friend.

She makes the most sense— and as much as I hate to accuse her, the signs points too well to her. She knew the most, she knew I was Miss Incomplete. Not only that, Iris is clever, and come to think about it — she left us when I discovered the card.

But the last thing that's settled is why?

What motive?

A knock on the door brought  out of my thoughts and I whipped my head to the direction to see my father's standing presence.

"Hey," he said softly, inviting himself into my room and begin to examine it. His eyes turns to me, a small glance down to the yearbook laid in front of me before returning my glaze, "what are you doing?"

"Revisiting old memories," I advise, looking down to see that I was the near end of my yearbook once again; I turn the page, upholding into the sports recognition section.

My dad comes forward, standing at the edge of my bed with his head slightly turned to the same direction as me to fully see the pictures in their glories. "hey, look, it's you," he points over to the girl with slightly shorter hair, cut off at her jawline and a bright smile on her lips. She was holding the trophy the team won the year before — 2nd Place.
