Security around the San Palace intensified within a few days, guards on constant rotation without there being a break in any of their formations.
Yongbok had sent news to the king who had rushed to send more men that were due to arrived at anytime, and still the Han Princess's child was still not born yet.
Minho had become more anxious, he realized, when he had taken Hei-ran in. She had been sleeping in his room now, with guards posted outside at all times, and even when she woke up early in the morning screaming and hungry, Minho did not let anyone other than himself tend to her.
Considering how smart these assassins and raiders seemed, he didn't know if someone could be poisoning the food he fed to himself and the little baby. He made sure that multiple people tested the food before he took it into his room and tested it himself, before feeding it to Hei-ran.
The small child didn't seem to care, but these changes were making Minho nervous.
On the last day of that week, they finally got the news that they were waiting for.
Princess Jeongyeon had gone into labor the night before, and that day, a healthy baby prince was born.
"What did they say his name was?" Yongbok asked, leaning over the long wooden table that the royals and nobles were eating breakfast at. "Yeong?"
"Yes, his name is Han Yeong," Minho murmured, feeding Hei-ran with a small spoon. "Prince Han Yeong."
"Is he competition for the throne now?" Min-hyung asked, spooning some rice into his mouth. "Do you thing Jeongyeon wants him to take the thrown?"
"No, you know how she is," Yongbok answered. "She just will want him to live safely. Maybe he'll take over the throne of his father's kingdom?"
"I doubt it, but maybe..." Bang Chan shrugged.
"We'll be leaving tonight," Minho determined, wiping Hei-ran's mouth. "Does someone want to ride in the carriage?"
"I'll do it!" Min-hyung raised his hand.
Minho nodded. "You ride with Hei-ran then. She'll love some time with her uncle."
"Yes!" Min-hyung picked Hei-ran from Minho's lap as she giggled. "I'm your favorite uncle, right?"
"What about me?" Yongbok asked, pouting as Hei-ran touched Min-hyung's face with her small hands. "What about me, Hei-ran?"
"You're mean," Minho muttered, standing up and stretching. "I'll go get everything ready! Get ready to leave soon."
"Yes!" Chan saluted.
Minho rolled his eyes and turned to Min-hyung. "Can you watch her for a few minutes? I have some things to discuss with General Jeon and General Kim."
"Of course!" Min-hyung picked Hei-ran up, her tiny legs kicking in the air. "Who's your favorite uncle?" Who's your favorite uncle...?"
~oOo~
The tiny new prince was creating quite the racket. King Han Jisung stood outside his cousin's room, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he stared at Captain Kim. "Is it meant to be that loud?" he asked, his eyes narrowing. "Are we sure he's healthy? Is something wrong with him?"
"No, nothing is wrong, Your Majesty," Captain Kim sighed. "He's just a baby, so he's going to cry."
"Good lord, I hope it doesn't stay this way forever. I can hear him all the way from my room," Jisung shook his head before nodding goodbye as he went off to find Changbin, who was getting ready for Yongbok's arrival.
