"You guys saw that too, right?" I asked Amy and Vlad.

They both nod their heads at my question. Good, at least I'm not losing my mind or anything like that. But I can't help but think this whole thing was staged or something.

Especially with that damn cowboy. He was willing to kill me before, but now he acted like I was a nobody.

I know I wanted this to happen, again, this kind of development was too fast. They say Rome was built in a day, but that's impossible, and so is this.

There's absolutely no way that the people in the city would change their opinion of me so quickly. I've been doing this for a couple months now, and I literally made zero progress with them. Then, all of a sudden, they finally think I'm one of them?

That's a bunch of bullcrap if I've ever seen any. I don't know what happened to those people, but I need to know what the hell happened there.

Just as I was about to go back to the city to get some answers, a familiar face showed up in our living room.

"How's it going, Damien?" The woman that spoke to us had wild red hair, wore a leather jacket with camouflage pants and combat boots, and had a red scarf around her neck. She looked to be in her twenties, and she had this confident and carefree expression that she always showed us.

This person was Zemmi, the invincible Dragon. She's an acquaintance of ours, but I wouldn't say that we were considered friends.

Before she became so friendly with us, she was actually one of the people that hunted me down by order of the Kingdoms. And, she was also the one who almost killed me by stabbing me in the chest with her bone sword.

Every time I see her, my chest starts to hurt like when she first stabbed me. Unconsciously, I clutched onto where the blade pierced me.

"Zemmi," I said in an irritated tone. I noticed behind me that Amy had a disgusted expression and she showed no effort to hide it.

"Hey, what's with that tone of voice?" Zemmi asked, looking offended. "I thought you would be happy to see me."

No, seeing you mostly just makes my chest ache, so, sorry. I wanted to tell her that, but I already had things on my mind as it was.

"Look, Zemmi, whatever is it that you want, I'll take a raincheck. I need to get some answers back in the city."

"Oh, you mean how everyone there is acting normal around you now?"

"Wait, what now?" I turned to look at her in surprise. "How do you know about that?"

"Because I helped make that happen, of course!"

So you're the cause of it?! Speaking of which, how could she have done something like that in under a day? What did she do, bribe everyone?

Zemmi noticed the disbelief being written all over my face and started puffing her cheeks in anger. "It's the truth! An old friend of mine called me and asked for my help on something. Not only that, but he also asked for the king's help."

"An old friend?" I asked, tilting my head in confusion.

"Yeah. His name is James Freeman. He's the guild master you encountered back at the guild."

Oh, that guy. Now that I think about it, I never did ask for his name. I feel like a part of it was because I didn't really care about it, but if he called a favor that resulted in this, I should probably thank him.

I guess I can do that when I see him again. More importantly, how did these guys managed to get the people in the city to act normal around us?

When I posed the question to Zemmi, her explanation surprised me.
