Chapter 22: The Child of Fable

Somewhere south of Breumore City...

"Hey, Drake, I think all these guys are dead." The girl with bunny ears stated while crouching down and poking a stick at the dead bodies around them.

"Well, that's to be expected when you ordered the men to fight to the death," The man with a white mask sighed deeply. "Honestly, when I said 'put up a good show', I didn't mean this."

The man with the white mask then pointed to all the deceased bodies lying on the ground. They were all in bad shape, ranging from major head injuries to stab wounds. This was the result of the rabbit-girl's spell she used on them.

"I-I didn't expect all of them to die! I just thought that they would knock themselves out if they fought seriously."

"As usual, it seems we need to work on your Psychic Magic a little more. Specifically, what to say to those under your mind-control spell.

"I-I know that already! Please don't make me self-conscious of it." The girl with the rabbit ears turned red with embarrassment.

Although the duo wasn't that fazed by the number of dead bodies there were in the room, it wasn't their intention to kill them inside. They simply wanted to keep the men from escaping, so injuring them would've sufficed. Sadly, this ended quite terribly.

"This is quite the mess, huh?" The man with the mask pondered. "Although we were going to kill the target anyway, we still needed some information out of him."

"S-sorry, Drake." The girl's bunny ears drooped when she apologized.

"It's fine. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much information out of the lad, so you saved me the trouble of wasting my time."

The bunny girl's ears perked up when she heard this. "I-I see. T-thank you."

The man with the mask patted the girl on the head. Although he was wearing a mask to hid his face, you can tell that he was smiling.

"Don't worry about it too much, okay? Just me more mindful of how you phrase your commands. And make sure to give me a heads up."

"Hm! Understood!" The girl took his words at heart and was determined to do better. This was the usual scenario for the two.

The two people here are Draco Mirage and Haga Usagi. They are a criminal duo that take hit jobs. In a word, they were mercenaries.

The man named Draco is the leader of this duo. Despite the white mask with red designs on it, he was also wearing a ringmaster outfit with top hat to go with it.

In his right hand was his cane with a snake carved in the handle. He didn't really need it for walking, he just thought it was stylish. That and also the fact that its his weapon.

Inside the cane were two blades. The handle carried one which the user pulls out to reveal a long blade. The other blade is at the bottom of the cane, which pops out and shows a shorter version of the sharp knife. Best of all, it can also be used as a club if needed.

Another thing to note about Draco Mirage is that he's a child of a god. The god of tricks and mischief, to be precise, Fable. This god is known for being a trickster and master of illusions, and like the god, Draco is able to use Illusion Magic.

He also has three special skills unique to that of a Child of Fable. Two of his special skills can decern a lie and also help him tell a lie called [Eye of Truth] and [Sly Tongue] respectfully. These skills have helped him interrogate people and also deceive them as well.

The last special skill he has is called [Illusion World]. This skill is very unique and powerful because it allows Draco to create a small world around himself where he can control anything he desires.
