"Why did Desmond have to make his notes look like chicken scratches?" I grumbled as I went through Desmond's papers from a folder.

The writing on the notes were difficult to translate, so I had a hard time trying to figure out what the hell he even wrote. I would've been there for hours, but thanks to Emma, she was able to help me translate through them.

According to Emma, the words on the notes weren't chicken scratches but actually rune symbols. There was apparently a rune writing system which is used for secret spy stuff. The writing system isn't known well, so it's used often by political figures to keep their affairs in order.

Anyway, in order to understand what was written on the papers, I had to get a crash course in Ancient Runic language. Even when I was in another world, I had to go through some kind of class.

After about a week or so of learning, I was able to get the gist of what the runic system was. There were still areas I didn't understand, but I was able to at least read Desmond's notes without my eyes going cross-eyed.

And what I discovered from his notes were both surprising and amazing. Apparently, he really was making new spells. From what I remember from Amy, learning magic spells is like learning and understanding a math equation. You need to know what each variable means and how you can put it in an equation in order to make or use a spell.

Thankfully, with Amy and Emma's help, I was able to get a rough understand of what some of the magic equations were. I still have some things to work out on, but for the time being, I'm okay with just reading the stupid equations at this point.

And it paid off too. After some reading, I found a few of Desmond's newly made spells that could prove useful in my days to come.

The first spell I discovered was [Map]. As the name suggests, I can create a mini-map of the area to look at on a small invisible window floating in front of me.

It seems that Desmond created this spell by combining a couple of spells and skills together. The items in question used were [Detection], [Appraisal], some illusion magic, and some searching spells.

Put them together and you have the [Map] spell. [Detection] and some of the search spells are used to get a layout of the area from the landscape to people and animals, to objects as well. The illusion magic is what displays the map in the first place with the help of the [Detection] and search spells.

Lastly was [Appraisal], which was by far the most useful feature of this spell. With just the skill alone, I'm able to appraise a person's status from a certain distance and eye view. However, with [Map], I'm able to appraise a person without having to even see them.

I tested out the spell to do some experiments on it.

"[Map]." I chanted and a mini-map appeared in front of me, showing my current location.

There currently wasn't much to show where I was at, but that didn't stop me from experimenting with this spell.

"Display all living individuals within the immediate area." As I said this, a couple of blue dots appeared before me. There were currently ten people near me.

The dots must be Amy and the others. Geez, I didn't think we had this many people. Getting rid of Van and the maids, it would just be Amy, Vlad, Arri, Thana, and me, which is five people.

That would mean the other five on the map were Van and the others. Alright, time to test out the other feature.

"Appraise all individuals." Suddenly, a column next to the map appeared, showing the statuses of all the dots on the map.
