(Trigger warning, this chapter contains depiction of gruesome scenes)

The childrens' bodies were found not far from Qi Jingye's home. After all, they lived in the outskirts of the city and there were very few people here. There also happened to be a small forest nearby where bodies could be buried conveniently.

This time, they were found when a junior high school student took his dog out for a walk. It was his first time coming to this small forest, and then the dog kept barking at a specific spot and dug the soil with his paws. He then poked the spot with a branch curiously and found that the soil was soft.

And then ...

Anyway, that junior high school student was in the hospital right now, suffering from shock.

Qi Jingye had come into contact with many dead bodies over the years, but it was really the first time that she had come into contact with children's corpses.

They were all kids who had just started elementary school, with some of them still carrying small school bags as they were dug out.

It was summer now, and the corpses were quickly rotting. Bugs flew around these little corpses, and the putrid stench was overwhelming.

Sister-in-law Qi had always been the mascot heroine of the team, but now, looking at those children whose ages didn't look that far off from her daughter, she couldn't bear but gasp in horror, and couldn't bear to look at the bodies any longer.

Currently, the coroner was collecting evidence, and word had spread that a murder had taken place here. There were people around who looked on curiously. Qi Jingye rubbed his hair, which had strands of white by now, as he felt a headache coming.

He had seen so many corpses, both decomposing and fresh, with them in all sorts of strange manners as they died. He thought he could bear everything by now, but when he saw these children who were barely a few years old, his heart felt uncontrollably angry and devastated, bursting like a fountain.

People killed, with most of them seeking money and revenge, but what did such small children have to do with all that?

Right now, the only thing they could do was to catch the murderer as soon as possible, to ensure there won't be any more victims in the future.

Today had been another long day spent at work, and the results from the autopsies soon came out. These children were found to have been suffocated to death.

Fortunately, the children were not buried alive where they were found.

If so, those children would have been in a much worse and desperate situation.

Their parents soon arrived as well, and sounds of people's cries soon filled the precinct.

Qi Jingye sat in his seat, not even daring to go out and hear more of the cries of those people.

He is a father himself, and his daughter was currently at that age. When he saw those children, the empathy he could feel made him sick.

After all the clues have been determined, the police quickly listed down the suspects.

Because the criminals were so vicious this time, they had validations to shoot if they had to.

The arrest was carried out quickly. Qi Jingye led the way, with Sister-in-law Qi right behind him.

The suspect looked like an ordinary college student, and he had no criminal record after investigation, but a search revealed that he had previously been reported for animal cruelty.
