Chapter 16:

Dream.

Kise drew in his breath. He had just been watching the match. 8 - 15. Wow, that was intense.

"Senpai....What the hell was that just now?"

"That, kid, is what the real world looks like."

"Awesome!"

"Oh it always is. As long as you're up here. Down there, it's different."

"The first string is fantastic! They're the ultimate dream team!"

"Yeah, yeah...."

"I can't wait till I become part of the first string. I'll play that red-head, the blue-one....."

"Oi, oi. Don't let your promotion get to your head. They're the generation on miracles!"

"Generation of miracles? Nice name......."

"You've got to learn a bit more about the ropes kid. Last one week in the second string and then we'll see. Anyway our match just got over at the start. It'll probably take a month or something until we play again....."

"Mou! I can't wait so long!" said Kise pouting.

"What the......"

"Senpai, wanna play basketball?"

"Like hell! I'm going home."

"Sheesh, that's bad.... See 'ya."

"You too. Take care, idiot!"

"Thank you, senpai!"

***************

"Sora, we're sorry...." muttered Akira.

"Oi, it was my own fault. None of you asked me to bet..... This is just the consequence of my own rashness."

"Don't worry, Sora-chan." said Yukiji brightly. "Next time you bet, we'll get our own back with revenge!"

"Yeah....."

"Next time?....." said Akira weakly.

**********

"Akashi-san, a minute?"

"Hmm?"

Sora hesitated a bit. "May I know what terms you have in mind?"

Akashi smiled. "Go home for now. You look tired."

"But the penalty....."

"All in good time."

"Okay." said Sora.

"Sora?"

"Eh?"

"Oh, I guess it was something too trivial....."

"It's alright....."

"I never intended to lose. Not even for a second......"

"Oh?"

He then shook his head. "Nevermind. Himeji, don't even think of absenting yourself tomorrow."

"Now you tell me! If I'd had an idea earlier, I would have put a time limit on the penalty......."

"Don't make me force you to stay here....."
