"Sir you wanted to see me?" I questioned, walking in my bosses office.
"Ah," he nodded, swallowing whatever it is he was chewing on and wiping his mouth.
"Is it okay if I sit?" I questioned, honestly confused on what he could possibly want on my first day back.
"No actually, I think it's better if you remain standing." He sighed.
Okay?
"Are you aware that you missed three days of work, no notice, no coverage." He began.
"No sir, I let you know, I left a note on your desk, and I had it on the website that I wouldn't be available." I shook my head.
"I also had Fred cover my shifts." I added.
In response my boss only shook his head, "there was no note on my desk, and you know that we handle those sorts of things face to face."
"Not only was there no note, but Fred did not cover your shifts, leaving the store under staffed." He ranted.
What the fuck.
"While I did see your notice online, they are irrelevant if you are unable to find someone to cover your shifts."
He just said I didn't put in a notice, now he's saying I did but it didn't count?
What type of bullshit is this.
"With all due respect sir, I was under the impression my shifts were gonna be covered, but if you saw that I had a notice online, and realized the shifts weren't covered, why didn't you just call someone in?" I questioned.
He was silent for a bit, then spoke, "August you're a good worker, but this incident, on top of the many complaints from your coworkers has left me with no choice."
At the sound of those words I immediately scrunched my eyebrows in confusion.
"Sir...." I spoke.
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to let you go August." He sighed.
"What!" I questioned.
"No there's gotta be some mistake, I get along with nearly all my coworkers, I come in sick, I work overtime, I've literally worked through any type of weather and you're firing me despite me having done everything I was supposed to." I ranted.
No something just wasn't adding up.
"I'm sorry young man but this decision is final, your final check will be deposited in your account tomorrow morning."
"Sir.." I spoke, in complete disbelief.
"Please just leave the property and don't make this harder than it needs to be." He instructed.
"Mr.Lance I need this job!" I spoke, using his name this time to show just how serious I was.
"Fired over my first offense, you know that doesn't sound right!" I ranted.
