I closed my work locker and sighed to myself, the shift that I got to cover was a long one, I mean I was thankful of course—cause we definitely need the money more than ever, but damn.
Slowly I exited the store, since the footlocker I worked at was inside of a mall, by the time I got off I usually had options for food and other shit if I wanted it.
I decided to pick up something for August, not food or nun cause I know he had already ate with Kierra and that rash nigga so I'd just pick up a gift, sum' to cheer him up.
"let me see what they got." I mumbled to myself, walking toward the GameStop.
Ain't gon cap, my shorty was a nerd. Boy liked games, reading, that Chinese cartoon shit and everything.
It was mad sexy tho, I even tried getting him to wear one of them school girl outfits when we was fuckin but he replied with a stern "nigga you outta yo mind." So that was out of the question.
"Sir, do you need help?" A store employee asked. And by this point I'd noticed I'd just been standing in the middle of the store, just deep in my thoughts.
"yeah my bad, y'all got some shit on sale?" I questioned.
The man nodded and led me to a stand with all the discounted games.
Immediately the Mario Cart shit caught my eye and I picked it up, only to immediately scrunch my eyebrows, "boy what the fuck, they beastin'," I mumbled.
I asked for the shit on sale, these prices looked pretty off sale to me.
Nah that ain't gone work, I'm just gon have to eat some ass or give some head prolly both—ain't got the money for what they talkin bout'.
Staring at them prices blew the fuck outta me, made me leave the mall immediately.
Despite being done with work, I wasn't gonna head home yet, I had business to handle.
Aug was right, with one source of income, we wasn't gonna be able to continue to handle all these bills.
so, I had to make a decision, and that decision was either, honoring the promise I made to august, or breaking it so we could survive, and I could support him.
The last thing I wanted him to do was quit school, this photography shit was his dream, and he was doing mad good balancing all this shit.
Like I said, I made a promise to him that I would never turn to the streets, and do no dumb shit. but, it was either I do this and make a little side money, or we struggle more than we already were.
No matter how many shifts I picked up, I wouldn't be able to continue to support us with how much I was making.
When I made it to the car I sat down with a sigh before closing the door. I made sure to turn the heat on before doing anything else, it was dumb cold outside for no reason.
