A week later

IMAN

"Has she arrived?" I inquired, turning to my personal assistant Fatoosh.

"Yes, she has. And the rumor has been spreading around the company that you're also Sir Abubakar's wife. I'm sure she's already heard about it," she replied. A smirk curled around my lips.

"That's good. I'll do everything in my power to make sure they don't get back together. If I can't have Abubakar, then nobody will."

"But, Miss Iman, don't you think if Sir Abubakar hears about this, he'll become furious?" She asked.

"Let him. I wasn't the one who told everyone that I'm his wife too, right? Rumors spread like wildfire. I'm not doing this for anything but to make Asmau go mad, so she'll pick a fight with me and then get kicked out of the company. I'll make sure of that."

"Is that going to help you get back with Abubakar in any way, though?" Fatoosh asked, concern creasing her brows.

"I don't know, Fatush. I've been trying to get Abubakar to fall for me again, but it's not happening. Even when Asmau left them, I tried to get close to him, but it's like everything I do is pointless. So that's why I want to get rid of Asmau, no matter what it takes. First, I'll start with the company, and then later on, I'll eliminate her from our lives permanently," I explained with determination.

She gasped. "What do you mean?"

"None of your business," I snapped at her, glaring. "Where's Asmau now?" I asked.

"She's either at her office or the break room, making some coffee," she replied.

"Okay, then." I got up from my seat.

"What are you going to do?" Fatoosh asked, worry etching her features.

"Look for trouble and get her fired," I smirked.

ASMAU

Today was Monday, and I couldn't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, the office could brighten my day. However, deep down, I knew that was an unrealistic expectation, especially considering I worked in the same place as Iman. I had no other choice but to face that woman.

The moment I entered, I overheard a conversation that instantly grabbed my attention. Two female employees seemed to be engrossed in gossip.

"Excuse me, what are you talking about?" I inquired, curiously.

"Mrs. Asmau, a rumor has been circulating in the office that you're Sir Abubakar's wife and Iman is your co-wife, which is why the two of you always argue," one of them explained.

"Co-wife with Iman?" I couldn't help but chuckle. "You've got to be kidding me," I muttered.

"Mrs. Asmau, you need to teach that Iman a lesson. I don't even like her," chimed in the other, Aysha.

"I don't like her too," the first one agreed.

"It's okay, you guys should get back to work," I suggested, wanting to put an end to the discussion.

"Okay, then."

"Asmauuu!" I spun around and saw Abeedah making her way toward me. "Hey! Good morning," she greeted with a warm smile.

"What's so good about the morning?" I retorted, rolling my eyes.

"Is this all about the rumors that have been going around?" she asked, concern etching her features.

"You heard about it too? I'm sure this is Iman's doing. She just wants to annoy me. You know what makes me angry? It's not the fact that she lied about being Abubakar's wife, but it's the fact that she's lying about being my co-wife. That's just awful. I'm sure if she was actually my co-wife, we would have already murdered each other by now. I don't even want to imagine it," I said, cringing at the thought.
