Killian's P.O.V

"Killian, look out!"

I turned just in time to see a man dressed in black wielding a knife, ready to strike. I grabbed his hand, pushing him back just as he was about to attack. I looked over at the person who called out to me. She had followed me down to the parking lot.

I shouted at her, "Get out of here!"

She shook her head. "No, I can't leave you. What if you need me?"

The man came at me again with the knife, poised to attack. I wasn't worried that he'd overpower me because I could tell that he was an amateur, not quite trained. I easily took him down and started to make my way over to her as she ran to me. Just as I got to her, I saw her eyes widened, and she screamed.

"NOO!!"

When I turned around, there was another man with a knife. I was ready to take him on, but she ran in front of me, throwing herself between me and the knife. I watched horrified, realising that I would not be able to get her out of the way in time. So, I twisted both of our bodies and heard her cried out as the knife sliced through the tender flesh on her shoulder.

Just then, my men came running into the parking lot, taking the man down before he could strike again. I grabbed her arm, putting pressure on the cut. My heart started beating really fast, as I saw her blood on my hand. Seeing her blood on my hand was far too much for my brain and heart to handle. Images of Lilly being shot and falling into the river flooded my head and I had to close my eyes to get rid of them.

Scooping her up in my arms, I carried her back to the suite. After opening the door, I kicked it shut and took her into her room. Placing her on the bed, I went into the bathroom and got the first aid kit that the hotel provided.

Ripping the sleeve of her dress, I inspected the cut and breathe a sigh of relief when I saw that it was not too deep. Working quickly, I cleaned it and bandaged it up. When she was fully bandaged up, only then did I look her in her face.

Anger, rage and, most of all, fear overtook me. I was mad that she put herself in that situation, but I was more upset that she caused me to relive memories that I worked so f**king hard to bury.

"Are you f**king stupid?! Why would you jump in front of a f**king knife?!"

She hissed, making me aware that I was gripping her arm tightly. I let go, apologising.

"I didn't want you to get hurt."

Her words angered me more. "So, you thought that getting yourself killed was the answer?!"

She shook her head, her shoulders slumping. I got up from in front of her, sighing deeply as I ran my still shaking hand through my hair. She stood as well.

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't stand the thought of you being hurt."

She looked so small and dejected, which made all the anger left me. It was partly my fault, anyway; I should have been more alert.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, and I wiped them away with my hand. She sniffed, trying to compose herself.

I sighed. "You can never do something like that again. You don't understand what it does to me watching you get hurt."

She smiled and nodded. I knew that she took the meaning of my words the wrong way, so I tried to put some distance between us, but I found that I couldn't. looking at her face that was just like Lilly's, and with all the memories of her playing in my head. I found that I didn't want to let her out of my sight, even if she wasn't my wife.
