THE DAYS THAT FOLLOWED THE arrival of the delegations was surprisingly nerve-wrecking for Lucia for some odd reason. At first, it wasn't all that evident, but as the fateful day finally dawned on them, she slowly felt as though she could melt into a puddle.

She'd heard many rumours about the students of Beauxbatons being one of the prettiest and fanciest bunch in the whole globe, while the lot from Durmstrang so happens to be the brawniest. Somehow, that put some type of pressure on Lucia's shoulder because she knew one thing: Them, as in Hogwarts' students, were nothing like them.

They were all bland as the English dishes

Lucia was hurriedly dragged by Harry and Ron down the hundreds of steps from Gryffindor Tower and into the entrance hall as Hermione took the lead after they had deposited their bags and books as they were instructed, pulling on their cloaks to look more presentable to their guest.

The Heads of Houses were ordering their students into lines.

"Miss DiFiore, will you please fix up your bow."

Hearing her name called out by Professor McGonagall made her flustered and embarrassed as she fiddled around with the scarlet bow on the back of her head nervously. Seeing her struggles, the Head of House made her way towards the girl and tied the bow properly. "There,"

"Thank you," said Lucia timidly at the professor. Professor McGonagall smiled faintly at her before moving to Ron.

"Weasley, straighten your hat," Professor McGonagall snapped. "Miss Patil, take that ridiculous thing out of your hair."

Parvati scowled and removed a large ornamental butterfly from the end of her plait.

"Follow me, please," said Professor McGonagall. "First years in front... no pushing..."

They filed down the steps and lined up in front of the castle. It was a cold, clear evening; dusk was falling and a pale, transparent-looking moon was already shining over the Forbidden Forest. Lucia, who was standing in between Dean and Harry, was in the fourth row from the front along with the other fourth years in their house. They saw Dennis Creevey positively shivering with anticipation among the other first years
