Saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts

Flashbacks waking me up

༻───────────────༺

A GOOD AMOUNT OF DAYS pass since the events on Christmas night in Godric's Hollow that inevitably led Lucia back to her friends and after days of wandering the country in the cold, Lucia often find herself waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of gasps, grunts, and groans.

Of course, she didn't speak anything of it and kept it to herself. Hermione was always either asleep as though the world around her was nothing but irrelevant, or perhaps taking watch and never notice the coherent sounds. However, Lucia was a light sleeper and was no fool; it was like a new routine for her to sit by Harry's bed and soundlessly accompanying him to sleep, which he never took notice by the next day.

And frankly, Lucia would like to keep it that way. She didn't think she could quite take the embarrassment that would come with him finding out about such thing.

Unbeknownst to her, Harry had always been awake to see her climb out from the upper back to the ground like a snake, holding his hand as a means of comfort. Despite her every single effort in trying to make it as discreet as possible, it had seem that she had forgotten just how light of a sleeper he was as well as he would constantly watch her as she slipped her hand around his and fall asleep. He felt at ease.

How the tables have turn, he guessed.

At first, he wanted to deny her warmth. He didn't think he deserved it, but he never had the courage to speak up about it. Hell, did he even deserve having her in his presence?

He kept on thinking of that as they head back to the road and trek across the country once more, though Lucia was very much happy to leave the place as she skipped her way down the path, being the one to pack up the whole tent while he and Hermione were to sit back and watch.

But it was evident to Harry that it was also a way to distract herself from the discord around her. He knew what she's been thinking, for he would constantly hear her mutter about it in her sleep; she was thinking of those she had to leave behind at Hogwarts after fleeing... her companions in which Hermione and himself had gotten the enjoyment to know that Crookshanks was under her care the whole time up until now...
