Gabby's POV

August 18th

I sped up my pace as panic began to consume my body. My heart racing as I continued to search for my baby. She was just with me. How did I lose sight of her?

My stomach began to ache, imagining how scared she must be. She knew her way around the park but I wasn't sure she would know her way back to me.

"Where the hell did that dog go?" I whispered to myself.

I've been calling her for five minutes now and she hasn't come back. I don't usually keep her on a leash when we're walking because she knows better than to run off.

This dog is going to drive me to my grave.

"Diamond!" I screamed her name over and over again, with no response. I reached for my phone to access the tracker in her collar when I finally heard the sound of her bark heading towards me.

"You looking for this beauty?" A tall, dark, and handsome guy asked, leading Diamond to me. My eyes traveled along the man as he approached me and Diamond followed behind him like she belonged to him.

"Yes, thank you," I said, snapping out of the trance he had put me in. His deep chocolate skin and muscles that peeled through the sleeves of his shirt made my head go blank for a second.

"She was by the water," he said, turning and pointing back at the pond before returning to my gaze. "I caught her before she could jump in tho." He smiled, petting Diamond who obviously loved it. I returned a small smile before responding.

"Yeah? She was right behind me one minute , and then she wasn't," I said sort of shyly. This was new because I'm not a shy person. I didn't take having strangers approach me quite well but when it came to conversation, I spoke firm.

Diamond barked, causing a mug to form on my face as I looked down at her. Diamond was a pain in the ass but I would die if anything happened to my baby.

"She's such a beautiful Pit. What a nice coat." He chuckled, admiring her beautiful white and brown messy stripped coat.

While he admired Diamonds coat, I couldn't help but notice his big beautiful smile

While he admired Diamonds coat, I couldn't help but notice his big beautiful smile. I usually wasn't this comfortable around new people but something about his deep dark brown eyes drew me in.

"Yes, she is," I said with my baby talk voice, hugging my baby.

I cleared my throat, watching him look down at me while I attached Diamonds leash to her collar and like always, she just began to walk as if I didn't exist, pulling me behind her.

As I walked, I could see from the corner of my eye that he was following behind me. I turned and smiled awkwardly before I continued to follow Diamond down the trail.
