Let books be your company, and let the room where you spend your days reading become your permanent abode. Let the righteous in books become your friends, and exclude from your circle of friends those who have only idle conversations with you. Then you will feel the sweetness of true faith and the inner richness of your soul.

"And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend."

Surah al-Furqan verse 27-28

Get rid of your acquaintances and friends who bring you nothing but unnecessary meetings, useless talks, superfluous jokes, addiction to destructive hobbies and interests. Be friends only with righteous people who remind you of the Almighty, who teach you, who correct your mistakes, who keep you from doing sinful things, and who encourage you to do good. And if you find such a community for yourself, be sure that you will be the richest person on earth.

"A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends."
