How beautiful it is when a woman demands knowledge.
al-Hafiz ibn al-Jawziyyah رحمه الله, writes the following in his book Ahkamu n-Nisa:
"A woman is as full person in the matter of demanding knowledge as a man. And it is even necessary for her to seek knowledge on those matters which are obligatory for her, so that she may be able to carry out with conviction the legal provisions which are required of her.
If she has no father, brother, husband or other mahram to teach her the duties (fard) or to give her knowledge of how to perform the duties (wajibat), so that this knowledge will be the minimum necessary for her to stand on, then she should be taught by another woman from outside the family.
If she attends the lessons of the sheikhs, then she should avoid being alone and limit herself to the necessary number of questions.
Also, she should not be shy when perhaps asked about a religious question."
