Ibn 'Aun, رحمه الله, said:
"Know that the slave of Allah does not comprehend the nature of contentment until his contentment in poverty and hardship is like his contentment in wealth and prosperity.
How can you, after asking Allah for help in your affairs, be angry when His decision is not in accordance with your wishes! And it may be that if you get what you desire, it will be your undoing. And you rejoice in Allah's decision when it satisfies your passions.
And all this is because you do not know the hidden, the unseen. And when you are in this state, you are unjust to your soul and have not understood what contentment is."
