Allah has forbidden Muslims to think ill of their believing brothers and sisters because it very often encourages them to commit sins.⠀

Suspicions that lack any foundation and bad thoughts about a person are inseparable from forbidden speech and action.⠀

These thoughts creep into a person's soul and do not leave him alone until he has said or done something that he later regrets.⠀

Do not try to see the faults of Muslims and do not expose them!

Avoid pointing out the faults of your brothers and sisters so that your actions do not have unintended consequences.

Do not say things about your brothers that they would not like, even if they were true!

To ward off this sin from His slaves, Allah Almighty has compared a man who speaks evil behind his brother's back to one who eats his brother's flesh, to emphasise how repugnant such an act is.

Fear Allah, Who accepts repentance and is merciful. He gives His slaves the opportunity to repent, helps them to do so, and then He forgives them and accepts repentance from them.

This verse warns Muslims not to speak ill of others behind their backs:⠀ ⠀

"O believers! Avoid many suspicions, for indeed, some suspicions are sinful. And do not spy, nor backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would despise that! And fear Allah. Surely Allah is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful."
