The hatch of the Reaper sealed around me and right away I reached out and tuned into the frequency of the Vulture Droid squadron. "Right, all of you. Follow me!" I received and affirmative in return and began to lift off and exit the hangar.
Now, after the battle of Muunilinst, my ship, the Reaper wasn't able to be retrieved from the debris. Instead I had a substitute built in its stead with the same weaponry and attachments as before however THIS time, I'd implemented a miniature shield generator that would ensure I didn't lose the same way I had before.
I instructed "Keep in formation until we engage the enemy and then break off." I could instantly see them all descending down towards the Ion Cannon. After that first wave of Vulture Droids were wiped out in Grievous' failed strategy, all that stood between the Republic and victory was a few cannons, I aimed to change that.
My last message before engaging was "Open fire!" Instantly I pushed my thumb down on the trigger and opened fire with my back-up following suit. Right away, I caught one bomber, causing it to explode!
Anakin POV
"We've got company!" One of the pilots said at the back. Before we could react, the sound of blaster fire could be heard. That same trooper exclaimed "We're being flanked! AAAAAGGHHHH-!" There was static, silence and another explosion.
I turned around to see another wave of Vulture Droids approaching from behind. That alone was no problem, I initially smirked "Okay round two-." I noticed they were being lead by another ship though, and it was one I knew instantly.
It was a Belbullab Heavy Starfighter, exactly like the one that ambushed me during the battle at Muunilinst. It could have been a different one, but I recognized that flying pattern. I frowned, knowing what this meant. "Y/N."
I knew he hadn't died on Muunilinst otherwise the Separatist's ship numbers would have fatally decreased. He approached almost like a ghost, I instantly warned the remaining members of the squadron.
"It's Y/N! Avoid engagement at all costs, focus on the mission!" Normally I'd have a feeling I could evade him, but every second I wasted doing that, Grievous could fire that Ion Cannon at the station, we needed to focus.
Another of our bombers was struck and exploded into a fiery inferno. Ahsoka warned "We've lost another. Those ships are engaging fast!" I sighed before instructing "All remaining bombers fire on the vulture droids, but DON'T engage Y/N!"
(Like I said, the only reason Anakin is avoiding battling Y/N here isn't because he's scared. Every second he wastes battling Y/N, Grievous could fire the Ion Cannon at the Medical station. Just wanted to clarify)
That's when Master Plo spoke up "Skywalker." I hastily replied "What?" He explained "I will engage Y/N and stall him, I'll leave dealing with that Ion Cannon up to you." Before me or Ahsoka could make any objections, he swerved out of our formation and turned to fire on the droids...
Y/N POV
I will admit, I was surprised when a ship broke away from the group of bombers. Even more so, that it wasn't a bomber itself but another of those Delta 7 Starfighters used by the Jedi. They turned and instantly opened fire, destroying two of my Vulture Droid escorts in an instant.

It was safe to assume this wasn't Skywalker since his starfighter lacked the modifications. Whoever they were, I had to respect their courage turning around and facing us directly. For this, I would humour them with a one on one duel.
I gave the order to my starfighters "I'll handle this Jedi, you all stay on the bombers, do not let them reach that Ion Cannon!" One all the droids gave an affirmative in response, I did the same motion as the Jedi and broke formation.
One thing I did need to be concerned about was that the Delta 7 was far more manoeuvrable than my own Heavy starfighter. Even so, much like against Anakin on Muunilinst, what I lacked in speed, I made up for in power. As would soon be clear.
As soon as I was behind the starfighter I opened fire. The Jedi was trying desperately to avoid my blasts. They weren't doing nearly as well as Skywalker though, one bolt instantly hit the side of their ship, not destroying it, but causing it to shake under the force of my blast.
I noticed Grievous had begun the charging of the Ion Weapon. I couldn't help but grin, soon it would fire and I doubt Skywalker could make it in time, between the cannon and my support droids.
Looking ahead, I saw the Delta 7 do an abrupt descent, I followed closely behind. Having to turn a bit sooner due to my ship being heavier and it would take longer to repeat what they'd done. I loaded in a missile and let it fire.
The Jedi began making frantic movements, trying to evade it. I loaded another one and said "This ends now Jedi." I let the second one fire straight after and now the Delta 7 had even more trouble.
It made a sudden turn again as I followed, now flying towards the Malevolence. I narrowed my eyes asking quietly "What's your game?" From here, the Jedi kept flying directly ahead towards the ship.
The Ion Cannon kept on charging likely nearly done by this point. I pursued after, firing stray blaster bolts until something happened that left me confused. My communicator started beeping, who would be contacting me now? I pushed the button to let the transmission through and was surprised to see PLO KOON sat in a starfighter chair.
Everything clicked as I asked "So, it was you then?" Back when I was a youngling and a Padawan, Plo Koon was one of the Jedi I respected. He was intelligent, yet kind, disciplined and arguably one of the least corrupt Jedi.
Plo Koon looked at me "Y/N L/N, or Minister L/N as you choose to call yourself now. I advise you surrender now. Please, do this and no further harm will come to you. I don't WANT you to get hurt."
I just stared back at him blankly asking "Why would I surrender? The cannon is almost ready to fire. In moments your Medical Station will be gone. I'm sorry, but the Jedi will learn the consequences of following a Corrupt Senate."
Plo let out a sigh before saying "No Y/N, I'm sorry." I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "For what?" That's when Plo responded "I have been stalling you. Look to your Ion Cannon, a symbol of how you fell."
As if on cue, there was a series of explosions behind the cannon facing the Medical station. The cannon continued to charge and I knew what was coming, I couldn't do anything to stop it as the entire cannon itself went up in a massive explosion!
I went into a state of shock, Plo did a sudden ascent causing the two missiles I'd fired to crash into the Ion weapon as well. As if in one final taunting act! Just as his hologram signed off. My pride and joy, a weapon that took WEEKS to work on, GONE!
Plo Koon had stalled me while Skywalker destroyed the weapon!
Soon after, my communicator started beeping again. Answering it, I was met with a furious looking Grievous. I instantly asked in my own angered tone "What was that?!" Grievous roared. "Just get back to this bridge! We need to make an escape!"
I nodded "Indeed. I'm on my way." After that, I signed off, gave up following Plo and made a course right back to the hangar.
This wasn't over yet though...
Grievous POV
As soon as L/N's hologram signed off, I turned to one of the Droids and demanded "Damage report!" The Droid turned and responded "We've lost both primary weapons." I let out a roar in anger, the droid turned and added "They hyperdrive has been disabled."
I could hardly believe it as I barked "Impossible!" That was only the start of it. Another Droid addressed me "General?" As I turned to me, he gave news that made matters even worse.
"We're detecting three Republic Warships entering the system..."
