Chapter 31: Storming the Bridge, Skywalker, We Meet At Last

Y/N POV

I'll give Grievous credit where credit is due. Since he'd managed to track their last communication. Not only allowing us to know that both Kenobi AND Skywalker were here now, but now we knew they'd split up, allowing us to pick them off one by one.

While Grievous focused on Kenobi, I'd elected to go after Skywalker. Another benefit to tracking their communication was that we knew where they were when they made it. Both parties had been on the rail jet at the time heading in opposite directions.

There were only two locations of note in those directions so it was safe to assume where they were heading. Kenobi was likely heading for the Hyperdrive while Skywalker and the Senator were likely making their way to the bridge for unknown reasons. I'd just have to head them off myself.

From where I'd been, it was a short walk to the rail jets, one showed up and I instantly boarded it. The rail car sped off down the track in the direction of the bridge. I just waited in anticipation until it finally screeched to a halt and I was able to hop off.

I instantly picked up the speed, running further down the corridor... 

Anakin POV

We had to duck into a nearby alcove to avoid fire from incoming Super Battle Droids, it was safe to assume our element of surprise was gone. Straight away, I contacted Obi-Wan "Obi-Wan, come in Obi-Wan!" His voice could soon be heard responding "Anakin, I'm afraid Grievous and L/N are onto us." I quipped "Yeah, we noticed." 

He explained "We'll rendezvous back at the Twilight. The fleet must engage the Ma-!" There was a screech as the line went dead. I exclaimed "Obi-Wan? Obi-Wan!" Padme asked "What's wrong?" I told her "They're jamming us!" As I deflected another blaster bolt. 

As soon as the Droids got close enough, I leapt from my hiding spot, swiftly swinging my blade around to cut all three of them down in an instant. Once they were done, I turned to Padme, saying "That might buy us some time." Padme commented "I assume you have a plan?" To that I just smirked before replying "Follow me."

At the end of this hallway was a lift, we both stepped inside and instructed it to go up. As we began to reach the top, we heard Droids speaking, one asked "The General is demanding a status report. Is the Hyperdrive working yet?"

Another replied "It's almost done." The doors opened as the Droid said "I'll tell him and the Minister the good news." As soon as it saw us, they trailed off. I smirked and drew my lightsaber, rushing forward I began to carve my way through the droids one by one.

There was nothing special here, just a few standard Battle Droids and two Supers. They went down with no trouble and as soon as they did Padme stepped out of the lift with a smile "Ever since I've known you, you've been playing with Droids."

I replied "I used to put them together." Turning to the remains littering the bridge, I finished "Now, I only take them apart." Padme looked around and asked "So, where to we start?" I went over to one of the consoles and explained "First, we need to get rid of these Droids so they won't know we were here." I began typing away at the console, I had a plan. "I'm gonna hotwire the ship, give Grievous a little surprise."

Padme sighed saying "Then I'll get rid of the Droids." Now we'd made a mistake, as we were talking the lift door had closed and gone back down to the lower levels. We'd been too distracted, that was until a voice suddenly asked.

"Well well, what are you doing to MY ship?!"

Y/N POV

On my way to the lift I came across the remains of three B2 Super Battle Droids, so, Skywalker must have already been here. I walked a bit faster now, reaching the lift and actually had to call it down to my level.

I got in and sent it up to the bridge. What I saw actually caught me off guard for a moment. Skywalker WAS here, sat at one of the consoles. I stepped out of the lift as anger took hold of me. I looked to my left to see Senator Amidala dragging the remains of Droids into the other lift.

I ripped my saber hilt from my belt and asked in a cold voice. "Well well, what are you doing to MY ship?!" This startled both the  Jedi and the Senator. Skywalker instantly got up and ignited his lightsaber. "Y/N L/N."

I ignited my own lightsaber and pointed it at him. "I'll ask you this one more time. What did you do to my SHIP?!" Anakin just smirked "Oh nothing special. You interrupted me before I could do anything."

Suddenly, he rushed forward, swinging his lightsaber downwards at me. I managed to raise my blade to block the attack before going in for a parry right after it. Thrusting my blade forward in a stab.

Skywalker was a practitioner of Form 5 if I wasn't mistaken. A very much offensive style. Not to mention he was very much adept in this form. Either way I knew I couldn't make any mistakes in this battle.

He managed to avoid my stab and went in for another swing. I intercepted and was able to bring us both into a clash. As our sabers collided I stated "So, no small talk, right into the action. I like that. Gets this over with quickly."

As I said that Skywalker quipped "I mean you could surrender. That would end things pretty quickly." I just stared at him blankly before saying "I see you inherited your Master's arrogance. I'm going to enjoy taking you out Skywalker. Doing so will put me in better standing with the other Separatists."

This made Skywalker smirk as he said "Well, you're going to have to keep waiting." We continued to push into our clash before he abruptly yelled "Padme run to the lift. Now!" Senator Amidala made a sprint to the lift not full of dead Droids.

Skywalker extended his hand out and I was pushed back with the Force. I was just about able to keep my footing as Skywalker turned and ran for the lift. Pushing the button, the hatch closed and down they went.

I just stood there for a moment, I looked around the bridge expecting to see damages or something like that. However there was nothing. All seemed to be as it was, even so, I'd order some Droids to come up and ensure nothing had gone wrong.

For now though, I had more important matters to attend to...

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter. We only have two chapters left of the Malevolence arc if I stick with my current plan. The next one will be Y/N and Anakin's first proper battle, I split this chapter and that one into two parts because I didn't want the fight to feel rushed in at the end.
