Chapter 40: Intruders Have Breeched the Station!

Anakin POV

Reaching and infiltrating the station was actually easier than I thought. Their shields were programmed to detect incoming ships, so we skydived from above and managed to bypass without trouble. Entering was just as easy, we carved a hole in the ground and hopped inside the facility.

Inside though it was about stealth, we slowly made our way along the typical Separatist corridors before stopping at the sound of Battle Droid voices. Looking around the corner, we saw two of them stood idly talking with one another.

One of them complained "All this moisture is corroding my servo-motors." The other one responded "Go up to level eight, get your head adjusted. Feels great." That made the first Droid say "That'll feel greAAAA-!"

We decided to put it out of its misery, one of the troops  lunged and ripped its head clean off. The other turned and exclaimed "What the-!" But was also cut off as Rex drew his pistol and shot it in an instant.

With them gone, we ran down the corridor until we found one of those R2 Unit panels on the wall. It was always convenient that one of these was around when we needed them. I was able to turn to that stubby R3 droid and instruct "All right Stubby, get to work." 

Stubby rolled over and interfaced with the panel. I'm glad he didn't mess THIS job up as well. He turned and brought up a hologram of the entire facility. Rex began pointing to the map, going through the layout.

"We are here." He said, pointing to one part of the map. He moved to a lower part "The reactors are thirty levels below us, there." That was all I needed to know. Turning to Ahsoka, I told her "Ahsoka, you take the squad and blow up those reactors. Gravity will do the rest. I'll meet you in the landing bay."

I took my backpack off with the charges in it and handed it to her as she asked "Where are you going?" I turned and began walking down the corridor, stopping and turning to face her again I replied "I'm just gonna have a look around."

She caught on to what I meant almost straight away, commenting "I hope you find R2 in one piece." With that sorted I began making my way down the corridor. I could sense Y/N's presence though, he was here, on this station.

And I had a feeling we'd end up crossing paths...

Y/N POV

My focus was drawn from Gha Nachkt's corpse as my communicator started beeping. Grievous stepped towards me, snapping "Who is it?!" I replied "We'll see." I pushed the button on the communicator and will admit, was surprised to see R3-S6 with his communications antenna extended out.

I smiled and greeted "Ah R3, good to see you're still functional." R3 responded by letting out a series of happy-sounding beeps. R3-S6 was arguably my most loyal underling, among the many aides and workers the Shipwright's guild gave me, Droid or organic.

Grievous stepped forward as I asked "What have you to report R3?" R3 let out another series of beeps, I could just-about understand the language of the R-Series droids and the news that my droid brought.

Skywalker? HERE?! Of course he would, he wasn't the sort to leave his precious Droid behind. Grievous reaffirmed this by asking "The Jedi are here?! Delay them until I arrive!" I added "But keep yourself safe."

R3 beeped in confirmation however a voice could be heard quietly on the hologram "Goldie, where are you?" It was clearly that of a child, likely that Padawan Nachkt had mentioned. The hologram shut off right after this.

Grievous snapped his head to one of the engineers and instructed "You! Sound the alarm!" The engineer nodded and walked off to do exactly as instructed. Once that was done, the General stepped back towards the disassembled Astromech on the table.

Leering down at the droid, he spat "Now, we shall transfer all your secrets to me." The droid let out another distorted beeping sound which made the General say sarcastically. "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you."

The doors opened behind me and I turned to see four Magnaguards entering the room, staffs already ignited. Grievous stepped towards them and spoke "Republic Troops have infiltrated the base! Keep this droid secure!" He went on to declare "I will deal with the Jedi myself!"

I stepped forward and said "I will stay with this Astromech then." Grievous turned to look at me so I explained "It's obvious why Skywalker is here. He must know his droid is here. And, it is also likely he'll split off from the group to come look for it."

Grievous seemed to think for a moment, I continued "I'm trusting you to prevent the destruction of this vessel. Consider it redeeming yourself for costing me the Malevolence." Grievous snapped "I don't need to earn redemption from you!"

That's when I interjected "BUT you do want to wipe out those Jedi. And I'm leaving the Padawan to you. If you want Skywalker's lightsaber afterwards then be my guest. I don't want it." Grievous made a growling noise before saying "Fine!"

He stormed out of the room as the Magnaguards stood at the four corners of the table. I waited until Grievous was out of hearing distance and the door closed. As soon as it did, I spun around to the Magnaguards and addressed them.

To one of them, I pointed and instructed "You, take the Trandoshan's body back to his ship and fly it away from here. He shouldn't just be left lying here." Turning to the rest, I said "The rest of you, pack up the droid and follow me."

The droids nodded as they were loyal to both Grievous and myself. You may be wondering why I was going behind his back, trying to move the droid out of here without him knowing. Well that much was obvious.

I would NOT cost the knowledge Nachkt had found because of Grievous and his arrogance...
