"Happy Birthday !"

I welcomed the mix of high and low pitched voices of the Cullens, standing on my porch, with a bright smile. My body almost immediately collided with Alice's small one which made me wrap my arms around her shoulders.

With time, I couldn't help but notice how sweet their scent got. I should've been able to differenciate each of them by their scent by now, just like I could differenciate my father from my mother, but on the contrary, their scent started to mix together as if none of them could distinguish themselves from the rest.

It was quite intriguing how staying with people for long, could make a difference to our senses.

"Thank you for coming." I told them over Alice's shoulders.

I wasn't the kind of person who liked to throw big parties for my birthday. So, when my parents insisted on celebrating my 18th one, the first thing I thought of was inviting the Cullens over and celebrate at home. It was such a hassle trying to keep Alice in control. I knew that if I let her be a part of the organization as she wanted, what was supposed to be a small gathering would turn into something much more extra. But, unlike what I expected, she did a great job at staying minimalist.

With time, my father started being comfortable with Alice. And Alice's energy even managed to make my mother, soften her gaze while she was around the house.

"Don't stay outside, come in !" I heard my dad say behind me.

Even without turning around, I knew that he was smiling. I guess the Cullens didn't only affect me positively.

Alice let go of me and went to greet my father while Esme walked up to me and hugged me as well, wishing me a Happy birthday. She was followed by Carlisle, Rosalie, Jasper who still prefered to keep a distance and nodded at me with a smile that I returned, then came Emmett who as expected, couldn't greet me like the others, put me over his shoulder and turned suspiciously too fast for my father's eyes.

"Emmett !" I called him, while punching his shoulder softly, more to avoid any bruises than to preserve him.

Although I knew Emmett wasn't careless enough to blow up his cover, I couldn't help but worry. As if it was my own secret to keep.

My feet were on the ground, the next second, leaving me dizzy for a few. I gripped Emmett's arms, to keep balance, and cursed him in a mutter, not caring that the rest of the Cullens could hear me. Once getting my balance back, I looked up at Emmett who was laughing, already used to such words coming from my mouth. These last three months have been filled with them, since he was always there when I hung out at the Cullens.

"Such words should not come out of a lady's mouth." Emmett said, faking being outraged.

I only answered with another curse targeting him again, before he was dragged away from me by Rosalie.

I knew from the beginning that I could never win against him, or any of them, physically. However, today was not the day for me to fight verbally either.

When Emmett was finally out of sight, I finally saw Edward who had disappeared behind Emmett's huge frame. He was staring at me with an amused expression. I sighed, feeling my heart beat faster as it always did at his sight.

"I'm tired already." I whispered to Edward.

Edward snorted and took a step forward to kiss my forehead. "It'll be okay." he reassured me.

"It better be."

Thankfully, the little party was lively and was going pretty well.
