Merediths pov:
It's been two weeks. Two weeks since me and derek went out to walk his dog. He still hasn't called me. Two weeks have gone by and he hasn't called me.

I'm sat in my room thinking. Did I do something? Has he lost interest? I thought we had fun. Fuck this. I'm going to call him.

I pick up my phone and dial his number. "Hello" he says. "Hey derek, it's meredith" I say. "Oh, hey" his voice immediately softens.

"I-I um" I don't know what to say. "I was going to call you" he says. "Yeah?" I ask. "I was.. I'm sorry I didn't, I just- I started work last week and it's been difficult.. more difficult than I thought" he says.

"You wanna maybe meet up and talk about it?" I play with a strand of my hair. "I'd love to" he says. "My parents are out of town this weekend.. would you like to come over?" I ask.

"I- really?" He asks. My eyes widen slightly as I realise that it could've come across the wrong way. "For dinner.. and a movie?" I ask. "Oh, yes.. that would be great" he says. I smile.

"I'm sorry again, for not calling" he says. "Its okay, really" I say. "But.. I dont want you to think-" he says. "I don't think anything.. just that you were busy with work" I say. "Okay" he says. I smile.

"So.. tomorrow?" He asks. "Yep" I say. "You want me to bring anything?" He asks. "Just yourself" I say. He chuckles softly. I smile brighter.

"See ya tomorrow derek" I say. "See you" he says. I hang up. I giggle happily, dancing around my room like an absolute weirdo, but I don't care. I have a date!

--------

The doorbell rings. I walk very slowly to answer it. Always make a guy wait. Never rush for them. I open the door. A smile immediately creeps onto my face as I see him stood with a massive bunch of red roses. Literally massive.

"Derek, that's ridiculous!" I giggle

"Derek, that's ridiculous!" I giggle. He passes them to me. I put them on the couch. "Thankyou, but there's no way in a million years I'll be able to hide those from my parents" I giggle. He smiles.

"I know, I just wanted to hear you laugh" his head tilts to the side. I hug him tight. "Thankyou" I giggle. I pull away. He smiles wider.

"So, you can cook?" He asks. "Nope.. that's why takeout was invented" I say. He laughs.

"You look absolutely gorgeous, by the way" he says. I smile. I'm wearing low waisted black jeans with an oversized cream knitted jumper, off the shoulders.

"Thankyou, you look really good too" I say. He's wearing a button up red shirt with black jeans. "Thanks" he says.

"You want a drink?" I walk to the kitchen. "Please" he says. I pour us both a glass of red wine. I pass his to him. We sit on the couch.

"So, how has your first two weeks of work been?" I ask. "Hell" he says. "Oh?" I say. "The actual work was okay, but all I hear is everyone comparing me to my dad.. it makes me really miss him" he says. "Oh, sweetie" I rub his back gently.

He's been taking care of all of his sisters, but nobody has been looking after him.

I hug him. He wraps his arms around my waist. He pulls away slowly after a couple of minutes. I smile small.

"You can always call me, you know? If you just need someone to talk to" I say. "Thanks" he smiles.

"What about you? How's work been this week?" He asks. "I was on a cover this week of a magazine, you wanna see?" I stand up, grabbing it. "Yes" he sits up.

I pass it to him. "You look amazing" he says. I smile. "Thankyou" I say. I take the magazine and put it aside.

"So, what movie do you want to watch?" I ask. "Whatever you want" he says. I prefer guys who know what they want. Who are opinionated.. but okay?

I put on a movie. "Not this" he says. I smile. That's more like it. He puts on a different movie Instead and we watch that.

I sit back on the couch. I see him hesitantly move his hand closer and closer to me. I like a man with confidence. NOT cockiness, but just the right amount of confidence.

He rests his arm on the couch behind me, his hand on my shoulder. Okay, he keeps proving me wrong. It's like he's reading my mind. I smile at him. His thumb is rubbing my shoulder gently.

"You cold?" He asks. "Huh?" I ask, confused. "You have goosebumps, he rubs my shoulder. "No, I-I'm just a bit nervous" I chuckle, blushing.

"Nervous because of me?" He asks. "Mhm" I nod. I don't usually like showing weakness, bit I don't mind infront of him for some weird reason. "What? Has a guy never touched your shoulder before?" He grins. I giggle.

"You never been on a date before?" He chuckles. I look away, feeling embarrassed. "Wait.. have you not?" He sits up straight. I shake my head.

"Meredith! I wish I would've known.. a first date should be amazing.. magical and-" he stops as I giggle. "Magical?" I grin. "Shut up" he says. I laugh.

"Come on" he stands up. "What?" I ask. "Your first date can not be us staying in and watching a movie" he says, grabbing his coat and putting it on.

"Where are we going?" I ask. I love guys who are adventurous. "Not sure yet, let's just go" he says. I put on a coat and shoes. I blush slightly as he holds my hand, leading me out of the door.
