My hair is up in a high ponytail as I'm with the rest of the surgical interns for this year, seeing my competition. Meredith isn't even here, she went out to the bar Jo's and fucked some cute human "Each of you" Dr. Richard Webber, really good friend of my mom's speaks to us all "comes here today hopeful, wanting in on the game" I hear the door behind us open, I don't need to look to know that it's Meredith my older sister "a month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors, today...you are the doctors" he opens the door to one of the OR rooms that I use to look down from up in the OR galleries.

"Your late" I whisper to Meredith who is next to me.

"Had to get" she whispers to me "the guy out of the house"

"Not complaining" shaking my head to her "just stating"

We walk around the room, finally being here. Most of us will, some will choose other fields while some will be surgeons "The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life" part of my life, since I am immortal "you will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you, say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty, five of you will crack under the pressure, two of you will be asked to leave" I notice many look my way when Dr. Webber says five of you will crack and two will be asked to leave. Their judging me based on the fact that I have this purple flower tattoo on my right wrist. I also have a tattoo on my side, an Alice in Wonderland quote "Have I gone mad? I'm afraid so, you're entirely bonkers but I'll tell you a little secret...all the best people are" with the quote there is a pocket watch tattoo with two red roses that are bleeding to it.
