Aira

I seriously don't understand what this man thinks of himself. Everyone makes mistakes. Even he's not perfect. This man causes more disasters than I do and doesn't even apologize for them. At least I apologize. And moreover, my pastry is ruined. Now I'll have to get another one. I grab my purse and phone as I head out of my cabin towards the cafeteria.

I booked an Uber on my phone as I ate my pastry. I see Lex walking out of the bathroom with his wet coat in his hands. He gives me a death stare as he sees me eating my pastry. I look at my phone screen remembering his bitter words.

"Don't show me your face for the whole day", I mimic to myself.

Like I want to see yours all the time, stubborn leech. As soon as I was done eating the delicious pastry, I headed out and got back to work. The site looks great from the outside but I'm not sure about the inside. There are three floors. A larger place would be better.

It is a bit congested from the inside. It's like I'm walking through a maze. I'd probably get lost soon. I keep exploring the place as I get an idea of the type of place we need. I record the notes on my phone, which soon enough decides to die. It takes me a while to get to the ground floor as there is so much equipment lying around.

However, there's no one here. The front door is locked and there is no one to be seen outside. It's getting pretty dark, and the weather is really bad. I hear something drop on the second floor. My phone is also out of battery.

Darn it. Of course, all of this has to happen at the same time. I walk back up to the second and third floors and yell out through the windows for help. There is literally no rope here as well.

How am I going to get out of here? A bright lightning bolt strikes loudly in the sky, looping my head and making my vision blur. The wind was getting strong and so was the rain. The rain... this stormy night...

"Help!" I yelled out, hoping someone would hear me.

Lex

I ran to my car and drove to the site as fast as I could. The lights are somewhat glitching but I could see the material and things inside starting to fall and move around because of the stormy wind. I yell out her name but there is no response. The entrance is locked. I have a strong feeling she's in there. I find a huge rock nearby and throw it at the glass door, breaking it.

Searching the ground floor and then heading up to the first, my voice called for her repeatedly. I find her phone and purse lying around the front desk. She has to be here. She's probably sitting around her with her lips shut because she's so damn stubborn. I look around the walls shake a bit through the huge thunderstorm. Fuck. This place is crowded with materials and dust.

"Aira!" I call going up the stairs to the second floor.

The sound of things falling gets louder and more persistent with the worsening of the weather. I find Aira scrunched up like a ball with both her hands covering her ears, sitting against the wall with her eyes closed, shaking. A huge gush of wind hits a huge wooden plank stabbed with numerous pointy nails which heads straight toward Aira's head.

I ran to pull her by the arm just in time, leaving a nail to scratch deep in the forearm of her other arm through her blouse. I drag her down to the ground floor quickly when the building starts to shake. She takes her wrist out of my hand and stops walking.

"What the hell are you doing? Can't you see we have to get out of here?" I scolded going for her wrist again.

"Shut up. This is all your fault. I've been stuck here for the past five hours, locked!" she yelled in the messy state she was in.

The fear and crack in her voice as she looks around plants a seed of guilt in me. She has dirt all over her clothes and her hair is messy. It's pretty obvious that she's scared as fuck because her eyes twitch with restlessness and she can barely catch her breath properly.

"Look Aira-" I speak going towards her.

"Who do you think you are?" she cuts me off.

This isn't the time for an argument, this building can collapse on both of us immediately and here she is. Wanting to pick a fight. My eyes still keep looking at her. She was clueless about whatever was happening around her as if she was stuck in a different dimension.

"You broke my phone at the airport, I let it slide. You left me on the road last night, I let it slide. You scolded me for no reason, I let it slide. Why the fuck do you think you're perfect? I always apologize for my mistakes, but you don't. Of course, you don't, you're Lex Hudson!" she argued, starting to tear up. "And Lex Hudson doesn't apologize because he's so arrogant and full of himself!" she yells as she pushes me.

She goes for another attempt to release all that frustration, but I grab her arms and throw her against a wall. My eyes intensify the emotions covering her eyes. Her body right now was hyperventilating, and it was obvious.

"If I knew this was going to happen, I would've never sent you here," my eyes stretch from side to side with a bit of anger that she's blaming me for something I had no idea about.

"You're an asshole," she cries to which my grip eases on her wrists.

There is a minimal gap between our faces as I stare at her tears closely. My breath gets warmer and warmer looking at her. Against me, her body shakes with little currents.

"You're an asshole!" she repeats taking her gaze away from me.

I grip her wrists even tighter as a loud thunder strike makes her flinch. My left hand was covered in the blood that drooled out of the deep cut that nail had left. I had also realized that there was a second one on her shoulder too. There was more than one thing I could focus on right now because it only took another loud thunder strike for her to flinch hard, for her chest to jerk like it was having a heart attack, and for her to fall unconscious.

I set her wrists free, allowing her delicate and vulnerable body to fall into my chest. I take her in my arms and quickly get out of the site. Behind me, the site starts to fall to the ground. I gently place her in the passenger seat and drive us home quickly. Her words rendered in my head, driving me insane. Just because she pisses me it doesn't mean I'd strand her like this and let her die.

For the ride home, she stays unconscious. She probably hasn't eaten anything either but that pastry she brought again after dumping that first plate on my coat. I carry her up to her room and lay her down on her bed softly. She holds onto my collar tightly, restricting me from leaving. I slowly unwrap her hand off my collar to take her shoes and jewellery off. Then closed the window of her room.

The wound was still in my head. I grabbed the first aid box and dressed it. It was quite deep and the skin around it was swelling up too. I couldn't help but just stare at her restless face in the process. I couldn't help but feel guilt. At the same time, I didn't want to be near her.
