Aira

"Me and mum have an important event to attend tonight. Are you sure you'll be okay alone?" Noah asked.

"Yes, yes. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me."

"You should go back to Lex now, Aira. He's telling the truth," he stressed feeling sad for the both of us.

I stay silent. I haven't been okay since that day and the feeling of disgust and unease renders to eat me.

"You go," I responded.

Noah closes my room door and leaves. Lex has been sending me voice messages every night, saying 'I love you'. I'm so tempted to reply but I don't. Every time I think of this child I'm carrying, I believe we could fix everything. I need to gather the resilience to forget his past. I have no right to judge as I was with another man myself. I didn't think twice about how he would've felt. My last-minute confessions led him on and he was hurt just the way I am now.

I spent the evening walking around the room with the thought that I should go back to him. I knew he's been desperately waiting for me and I was too. This pregnancy is putting me through hard emotions. I didn't want to compel him with extreme anger. A knock on the door breaks me through my thoughts and I look over to the time. It's only been an hour since Noah and his mum had gone to the event. They're back pretty early.

"Come in," I grant permission, slowly watching the door open for Sophie to walk in. "What are you doing here?" my eyebrows frowned, and the pain jolted back in my heart.

I couldn't stand this woman.

"I'm here to see you," she responds with a grin walking up to me.

Her head was high up like she was a queen and a threatening body language which should have been enough of a warning from me.

"You really think I'm going to let you win Lex over me?" she questioned.

"I think you're forgetting he's married," I reminded, showing the ring on my finger to her.

"You really think this ring matters? I love him and I will not let you take him from me!"  she lets out a triggered response by yanking my hair in her hand.

"Sophie, leave my hair!" I shouted, slapping her right across the face to free myself.

With a bit more force I push her away and off me, making her fall to the floor dramatically.

"Are you fucking crazy?" I scowled, fixing my hair.

"Yes, I am," she admits getting up. "I was the one who was there for him, I gave him everything you couldn't, and he still chooses you over me!"

"If you had given him everything, he wouldn't have run back to me," I stated with a chuckle to get to her ego and burst it.

My words set her off and brought her to a greater level of anger. A notification chimes on my phone and gets her attention. It must be Lex and she understands that by my response. Sophie walks over to my phone this time that was already unlocked since I was listening to his voice messages. She plays them.

"I love you, Aira. Please come back," the new voice note did not please her.

Sophie throws my phone across the room aggressively before coming towards me with utmost anger. I turn to the door for an escape but she pulls me by my hair, thrashing my body against the bedside table. My stomach hits the sharp corner of the table and she hold me into it harshly whilst she cusses at me. The airway around my throat tightens but a loud scream for help still does escape.
