"They looked at one another with so much love. They think they know, how bad life can get. The truth? They have no idea."

"You nervous?" Natara asked, taking a seat beside Steve.

"A little... You?"

This was her first time stepping foot in Wakanda in years. It was also Steve's first time seeing his bestfriend since he left him there.

"Same."

The man nodded, a small smile momentarily appearing before he grew serious once more.
"I know it feels like we're bringing a war right to their doorstep," He started.

"That's because we are," Tara interrupted, swallowing guiltily at her snapping. "Sorry, continue."

Steve sighed. "But this is everyone's war. Not just ours. We need all the help we can get. And they have the right to defend their world too."

The redhead ran a hand through her hair which probably left her plait looking strange. "They never get involved..."

"Maybe it's time they changed."

The two sat in silence before Natara looked him over. "I like the beard."

His lips twitched. "Thought it was time I changed too." His eyes met hers, as safe as always. "I think you did the same."

"Is it that obvious?" She teased.

"Only if they knew you before."

"Gods," Natara groaned. "I was a real nightmare, wasn't I?"

Steve's expression made her wince but he chuckled.
"No, you were alright."

"Don't lie."

"You had your moments."

His gaze softened and a genuine affection showed on his face. "I'm really happy for you. For both of you. You two deserve it. It's good to see you happy."

Natara smiled, fiddling with her wedding band and seeing Steve's eyes flash to the movement, happiness and longing in his gaze as he looked at it.
She wondered whether he'd lost someone in his past life or maybe even this current one. If so, Tara hoped he found happiness too.

"On a scale of one to ten," She suddenly grinned. "How much did you miss me?"

"You just had to go there, didn't you?"

"I can't change completely," She quipped.

"If I answer that then you'll never let me hear the end of it."

"Sure I will," Tara argued.

"I wouldn't if I were you," A husky voice said dryly and the redhead rolled her eyes.

Steve looked at Nat. "I'm inclined to believe you."

"You're supposed to be on my side," Tara huffed.

"I'm not picking sides," Natasha smiled. "Just telling the truth."

Natara would've replied had it not been for the outside world below them. She found herself straightening up as they approached the land she knew so well, even though you couldn't see any of Wakanda down below. She knew it was there, hidden.
