Liz's P.O.V

"I wanna stay up all night and jump around until we see the sun. I wanna stay up all night and find a girl and tell her she's the one." I sang loudly, dancing around my room in just an oversized shirt and undies. The weeks following my audition flew by, as I was busy practicing my heart out for boot camp.

Luckily for me, my uncle Keith has been in a band since he was in high school and he's got a homemade recording studio. In other words, he had a recording system and a whole lot of microphones. He's been teaching me how to use it ever since I learned I could hold a note, wanting me to follow in his footsteps of music. Although he was never able to make something of himself, being that he knocked up my aunt with my cousin and he had to settle down. He's living his dreams through me and is determined to make me the best artiest that I could be.

So the past weeks have been so busy recording demos and just practicing overall for boot camp that's in just a few days. I feel like my voice is stronger than it was back at my audition, if that was possible. I never really thought that you could change your voice but you can. You can make it stronger and that's exactly what I've done. It felt amazing when I held out long notes that I couldn't do a month ago.

The next few days were going to be so exciting. I was leaving for boot camp early tomorrow morning, the flight from Maine to Florida was roughly five hours and the contestants for boot camp were supposed to be arriving the day before we start filming, which is tomorrow. I'll land around noon and get to the contestants hotel about a half an hour after that. There will be cars at the airport taking home contestants every hour or so, so it shouldn't be that hard in getting a ride to the hotel. Besides, I've got my parent's credit card if I need it.

God, I still couldn't believe that I was going to boot camp. It was all so exciting, I was so excited. I was so nervous for it too though. I was worried that I wouldn't make any friends, that I would get sent home. I had no idea how the next week was going to play out. I was so nervous for it. All I wanted to do was sing and this was finally my chance.

"Liz, hun, are you almost done packing?" I looked up from my suitcase to see my mom standing at the doorway.

"Almost. I just got to go over my checklist one more time and then I should be done. Is dad back with dinner yet?" I asked.

"Nope, he said the Chinese place was a little busy so it'll take a little longer. Do you have all your chargers? Clothes? Maps? The money?" She asked.

"Yes, I have all that. I even have my extra phone charger that you insisted on me bringing." I said, sitting down on my bed.

My mom rolled her eyes playfully and moved to look through the suitcase I had just packed. "Do you have your toothbrush? Extra underwear?"

"Mom." I groaned. "I have everything, I promise." I said.

"Okay, okay. This is just hard for me. You're only eighteen and you're flying down to Florida with no family or friends. I just want to make sure that you're going to be alright." Mom said.

"Momma, I promise I'll be fine. I'm chasing my dream and sure, it's going to be hard and sometimes scary, but I want this so badly mom." I said.

"I know baby girl, I know. And you're going to get it, I promise you." She said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
