Caitlin's P.O.V

In the five days that I've been in Liz's house, we've made a mess in her room. Especially after we made up and started acting like friends. Now instead of an awkwardly quiet night, we were talking and fooling around. The fooling around part meant one thing, the room was a mess. Our clothes were scattered all over the floor and our shoes were a mix of things. It honestly looked like Liz's closet threw up all over the room.

When her mother had found out about the state of her room, we were all sent to clean it up. As much as I hated cleaning, I actually didn't mind doing it this time around. Something about it was different than when I clean my room at home. I have two other people to help out, sure, but this was different. I liked the way that her mom had made us clean. It was like she thought of us as daughters or even nieces. It was almost like being a part of the Johnston family. I'm probably reading too much into it, but I couldn't help it.

I was in the middle of straightening up her dresser - where used bowls and cups were littered -, bobbing my head along to the music that was playing, when I noticed a pink journal sitting on the edge. It was a simple cover, with One Direction, Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall, and Zayn scribbled on the cover. I laughed quietly at the fangirl I called my friend and picked it up. It wasn't until I was flipping through the pages when I realized that it was a song notebook. Music notes were scribbled on page after page, and lyrics followed the notes. It was then than that I realized we had still yet have heard each other sing. I turned to Liz, who was making her bed.

The music was too loud to get her attention so I walked over to the speakers and lowered the volume. Julie protested by throwing a pillow at me and I dodged the flying object. I playfully glared at the brown haired girl before turning to look at Liz. "You didn't tell me that you wrote music." I said.

Liz's eyes moved down to the notebook and her eyes widened. "I uh... yeah, I do. You weren't supposed to see that." She blushed, walking over to take the notebook.

"No," I said, holding it behind my back, "Sing something of yours." I said. Julie walked over and took the notebook from me. I turned around to see her flipping through it.

"Giving confession in the back of a taxi cab, sins in a paper bag." Julie read aloud. "Liz, this sounds pretty good so far. It's not like the songs that sing about sex. Can you sing it for us?" She asked.

"I..." Liz started but stopped.

"Come on, we have to hear each other sing eventually. Don't be shy." I said.

"It's not that I'm shy about my voice, it's just that that song is pretty old. I don't think it's that good." She said.

"Well sing it anyway, please?" Julie asked.

Liz sighed and nodded, causing Julie and I to cheer. Liz only laughed and went into her closet. After a second she came out with a guitar and I was surprised. I didn't know that she played the guitar. We moved over to sit on her bed. When Julie went to give the notebook to Liz, she shook her head and said that she knew the words to the song.

She quickly tuned the guitar, playing a few chords before she was content with the way that it sounded. She cleared her throat as she pulled her waves over her left shoulder, then leaning down to put her hands on the string. We watched in silence as she started to play, the sound of the guitar filling the quiet room quickly.
