Liz's P.O.V

The following week before our second live show went by surprisingly fast. The girls and I were so busy with the process of picking our new song and rehearsing it, I didn't get a chance to speak with Evan. I don't know if Julie or Caitlin had spoken to him either. I really hope that if and when they do, they won't straight out tell him that I like him. I have no idea if he'll want to date me. I'm eighteen, almost nineteen. He's a couple years older than I am and he might not even be looking for a relationship.

Either way, it's not like it would've mattered right now. Our week went by so fast and it was so busy that I barely had time to hang out with Beck. The only time that we could hang out was when we were eating lunch or dinner that had been served. That was one of my favorite times, to be honest. Everyone just took an hour to relax and be themselves. There was no stress of rehearsing or memorizing lyrics. It was just us all together, like the family that we had formed.

As of now, the girls and I were rehearsing for tonight's performance. We are closing the show tonight, which meant that we were the last to rehearse on the actual stage. The three of us were standing around, waiting for Simon to come. He'll be watching us and giving advice like he did last week. Gale is also with us and his job was to make sure that our vocals were where they were supposed to be.

"Alright ladies, I'm sorry I'm late." Simon appeared out of nowhere. He was crossing the stage, coming towards us. "Veronica had a bit of a problem but it's all solved now. So let me just check your folder." He said, walking down the two steps that led to where the judges panel was. He quickly checked the manila folder that had our song and how it's divided between us.

"Oh, this is a great song. It's a classic, one of my favorites. Let's begin, shall we? Rodger, can you hit the music." Simon called out to the sound mechanic.

I glanced over at Julie, who shrugged. It seemed like he was in a rush. He's so busy with all the contestants, and he's probably tired. I shook the thoughts from my head and paid attention to the way that Julie had begun singing.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey. Ohhh..." She sang into the microphone. The mics were not on, so you could really hear the way that her voice sounded. She sounded amazing, per usual. My envy for her voice grows every day. I looked over at Caitlin, who took a step forward and started singing her part of the song.

"Won't you, come see about me? I'll be alone, dancing, you know it baby. Tell me, your troubles and doubts, giving me everything, inside and out and love's strange, so real in the dark. Think of the tender things that we were working on." She sang. I smiled at her before bringing the microphone up to my lips, pretending that I was singing on stage.

"Slow change may pull as apart, when the light gets into your heart, baby." I sang. I glanced at Simon, watching as he signaled for Rodger to cut the music. The song cut and Simon stood up from his seat on the table.

"Alright girls, that was good, but there's something wrong with it. I just.... you know what? Caitlin and Liz, I want you two to switch parts. Caitlin, you actually sing quite a bit in this song so let's switch it up a little bit. Can you girls run through that, like how I just said?" He asked.

"Yeah sure, Simon." Caitlin said.

I pulled down the sleeve of the cardigan and looked in the mirror once more. Being a teen girl, I've never liked what I looked like. I'm pretty confident that every other girl my age didn't really like the way that they looked either. But there was nothing that I could do about it, or they could. So the disappointment that filled me when I saw my reflection was expected and I quickly turned away.
