Last chapter... Deep breaths...

**Fred’s POV**
“Two losses…”
Remus’ voice is faint and distant.
“Has anyone told George?”
“Not yet… Too weak… Want to wait…”
I can feel myself shaking and I want to stop, but I can’t.
“Where’s the body?”
“Couch… Covered… Old sheet…”
My head is spinning and pounding. My mouth is dry.
“McGonagall… Taking it hard…”
George has to know.
“I’m going to tell him,” I say quietly, standing up.
“No, Fred, wait until he’s stronger,” Mum protests, but I shake my head.
“He needs to know now.”
I walk upstairs feeling numb. I sit down on my bed and look at George. He’s in a deep, peaceful sleep and he looks so innocent. I pull out my wand and lift the sleeping spell before gently waking him.
“Fred,” he gasps, sitting up, “is she-”
He stops, staring at me in horror. I know he doesn’t need to hear the words, but I need to say them. I need to accept what’s happened.
“She’s dead.”
“NO!”
I close my eyes. The pain in George’s voice is awful. He collapses on the bed, sobbing. I lie down next to him and put my arm around his shoulders. I lean my face into his hair and let my tears fall.
**Molly’s POV**
I hear George cry out and it rips at my heart. After everything they’ve been through, to have her torn away is just cruel. I walk upstairs and crack the door open. Fred is lying with one arm around George and his face buried in his hair. The grief on both their faces is so personal that I look away. I want to be able to go to them, to hold them and make it all better.
I think that’s the hardest thing about having your children grow up. You can’t kiss their pain away anymore. You can’t fix everything.
“Arthur.”
I fall into my husband’s arms.
“What happened?” he asks anxiously.
“Maddie,” I sob, “we lost Maddie.”
