The next week went by in a flash. It seemed as though the holidays had only slowed down life for just a few days and then suddenly everyone was busy, busy trying to accomplish too much in not enough time.

Shana had practically taken on 80 percent of the parenting responsibilities after Santana had failed to stall the release of her first single. She had completely forgotten about it, but the date was set by the label for a surprise release on January 5th and a performance was schedule to happen just a few days later, so it was now time to rehearse and prepare for the most effective, least time consuming promotional opportunities as she could.

Despite begging from both of the new mothers, Julie was unable to do anything to help. With Jesse gone, the CEO responsibilities were temporarily assigned to SafeHouse, which meant that Santana had no say in what she did for her own career. This only encouraged her to press Quinn further on the idea of her taking on the role of the official CEO of JV Records, but Quinn was still sending her away, telling her she was still thinking about it but that it would probably be a no.

Julie hadn't given the label much thought, despite her own single being officially scheduled for release on February 9th. She had spent the first couple of days since her return finishing up the lead single, which her label had been unhappy with at first due to the last minute changes that were done to replace the duet with Sam. But it was worth it, for Julie had written the perfect song to kick off her new era and had Alex to thank for that.

Alex had been much inspired by her song, as well, and had written a great punk rock ballad for their album. Blackbird loved the song, so much that they had asked the guys to record a pop-produced version of it. Alex had refused at first, wanting his song untouched, but the label insisted and had final say, so the producers worked on it completely changed the musical arrangement. Sebastian liked the finished product so much that he, without the approval of the band, set the date for its release for January 26.
