Imagine being stuck on the other side with Kai and you spend Christmas together

After a terrible accident, you got sent to the other side. You were completely alone and astray until you met a handsome, weird guy. At first, you were afraid of Kai and you even believed that he was a lunatic, however everything changed when you got to know him. For a while, you refused to speak to him and you avoided him as much as possible, but you learned to accept him over time. After all, he was the only one who could keep you company and even if you attempted to flee, it wouldn't take him long to find you since you were the only two human beings in this prison world. Without Kai, you would be drowning in utter loneliness. Isolation could make anyone lose their mind, therefore the best thing you could do was stick together.

You spent your days hanging out and you eventually grew close to each other. It had been almost a year since you got trapped on the other side, but living with Kai wasn't as bad as you imagined.

But it had its inconveniences too. You missed your friends and family, but you had to face the truth and accept the fact that you wouldn't see them again. In fact, this year, it would be your first time spending Christmas without the ones you loved and you were quite sad about it. Christmas was supposed to be a cheerful time where people would gather together and enjoy each other's company, but everything turned out to be different this year. Kai knew how much you loved Christmas and even though you couldn't celebrate it with your family or your friends, he wanted to make it special for you. He planned out tons of surprises for you and tried his best to make sure you enjoyed the day.

You were peacefully reading a book when you heard the doorknob twist. It was Kai. He had been out for over an hour, but he didn't tell you where he was or why he went out.

You diverted your gaze from your book to Kai as he entered inside the house. He was carrying a huge Christmas tree.

"Oh my god. You did not." You gasped.

You squealed in joy and jumped to your feet. He smiled at you and set the Christmas tree near the fireplace.

"Christmas is tomorrow and you've been rambling on for the past few days about how much you wanted a Christmas tree so there you go." He explained.

You instantly broke into a smile.

"I also brought ornaments." He said.

You then both started decorating the fir.

"Hey, could you give me a hand?"

You glanced over to Kai, who had Christmas lights wrapped all around his body. You burst out laughing at how ridiculous he looked.

"What did you do?" You giggled.

"I don't know. I was trying to untangle the Christmas lights and it somehow ended up all around me."

You scoffed and helped him free himself from the Christmas lights. You then put them around the tree and added a few more ornaments.

"I think we're done." You stated.

"Not yet."

Kai pulled out a star from his pocket and you couldn't help but smile.

"But wait, how are we going to place it? The tree is too tall, we can't reach the top."

"I have an idea. Get on my shoulders." He replied.

He bent down and you hesitantly climbed on his back. Kai then stood up and held your legs to make sure you wouldn't fall.

"Someone is gonna get hurt." You stated anxiously.

"No, it's fine. I'm holding you."

He slowly walked over to the tree, but he accidentally stepped on an ornament and tumbled back. You let out a shriek, but luckily, Kai managed to keep his balance.

"This was not a good idea." You mumbled.

You took a deep breath and extended your arm, putting the star on the top of the tree. Just as you did, Kai's foot slipped on something and you ended up landing on top of him. He groaned in pain as you looked at him and strove to rein in your laughter.

You got up from the floor and helped him get back on his feet.

"Hey, at least our tree looks great." You chuckled.

"There's one more thing left." He said.

He plugged in the Christmas lights and the entire tree lighted up. You both stood there and admired the view in front of you, proud of your accomplishment.

For the rest of the night, you two watched old Christmas movies and stuffed your face with popcorn.

The next morning, you awoke to the sound of loud music. You crawled out of bed and headed to the kitchen. The radio was on at full blast as Kai jammed out to Christmas songs.

"Merry Christmas!" He exclaimed as soon as you stepped inside the kitchen.

"Wait, is it really today? I completely lost track of time."

"Yes, it is. I've counted the days." He answered.

You sat down at the table and watched as he took out a tray from the oven.

"I made Christmas cookies." He smiled.

"They look delicious! Thank you, Kai." You grinned back.

He sat down across from you, and you both ate the entire tray of cookies. Afterwards, Kai finally decided to show you the surprise he had set for you.

"Time to open up presents!" Kai announced, dragging you in the living room.

"Presents?" You asked, confused.

You looked under the tree and noticed that there were two boxes. Kai grabbed your hand and pulled you near the fireplace. You plonked down on the couch, and he handed you a box. You couldn't help but laugh at his lame attempt of wrapping gifts. You didn't mind though, it's the thought that counts after all.

You teared up the wrapping paper and looked inside, a wide grin instantly creeping across your face.

"You got me a Christmas sweater! I love those!" You said excitedly.

"I know it's not much, but-"

"No, it's perfect." You cut him off.

You opened the second box and found a teddy bear along with a box of chocolate inside. You thanked him and engulfed him into a tight hug.

"I feel so bad though, I didn't get you anything. I'm sorry." You admitted.

"It's fine, I don't need gifts. The only thing I need is right in front of me." Kai confessed, interlocking his fingers with yours.

You remained silent and stared at him with wide eyes, trying to process what he just said.

"You know, this is actually my first time in years that I'm celebrating Christmas with someone. I'm glad it's you." He added.

He leaned in and pressed his lips against yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. It was also Kai's first time kissing someone under the mistletoe.
