Chapter 39

-in the cab-

I'm thinking to my self and crying. what did I do wrong? Is it me? did I say something on the plane? what went wrong?...

"Hey you ok back there?" the cab driver asks concerned

"Oh yes thank you"

"So where you coming from? your in a designer dress so"

"The ACMs"

"Thats cool! do you know some famous people?"

"Yeah.. i was engaged to one but that all went downhill tonight.."

"Oh I'm sorry"

"Its ok," i look at the floor

"Here's your stop."

"Thank you" I reach into my bag and grab the cash to pay the driver.

"No need, its on me." he smiles

"You sure?"

"Yup, you don't need to worry about anything else tonight." He's still smiling.

"Thank you" I wave as he pulls away and I head up to the hotel room.

-an hour after the awards-

A good hour after I left Keith notices me missing. He turns to Luke.

"Where'd Caitlin go?"

He shakes his head in disapproval "You just noticed her gone?"

"Yeah didn't she just leave?"

"No she left over an hour ago. She wanted me to give you this." he hands him the ring

"But-"

"No buts. I cant believe you"

"What did I do?"

"What did you do!? oh let's see. DESTROY Caitlin's feelings. DESTROY your friendship with her. DESTROY your relationship. Cause all of us to just be ashamed of you. -"

"Oh god. what did I do?" He grabs his coat and against Hayden's attempt to get him to stay he runs out with Luke in tow.

"Keith wait!"

"What?" he stops

"Let me come with you"

"Ok where did she go?"

"Back to the hotel"

"Ok" Keith gets in the drivers side with Luke in the passenger seat. Its amazing that he didn't get pulled over for speeding but they make it to the hotel perfectly fine.

They enter the room to find it empty. "Damn it!" Keith says.

"Keith she has all her stuff here. she's going to come back"

"I know but.. I feel terrible.. I've been such a dick.." he sat down on the bed.

"Thats true but that doesn't mean she doesn't love you. She's hurting. She feels betrayed. But that doesn't mean she won't forgive you. its not going to be easy. its goin to take a fair amount of work. That is if your willing to try and put the effort in"

"Of course I am! I - I just feel so stupid"

"I cant say don't, cause what you did was very stupid"

"Yeah.. I'm going to jump in the shower and wait for her to come back."

"Ok ill be here"

Keith goes and grabs clothes then jumps in the shower...
