Here it is!!!

Jim let out a breath. A coma. How? Why now, when he just got you back. He looked around him at the other officers. "Report to Mr. Scott. Thank you for bringing her back."

The dusty group left leaving Jim and Bones, save a few nurses, with your sleeping form. Jim took a seat next to you taking your hand in his. He laid his head on the side of the bed, closing his eyes. He should have transferred you over earlier. He should have told you how he felt instead of thinking selfishly about his so-called 'reputation'. As if that was more important than having you with him.

Your hands were rough from the years of hands-on work you did as an engineer. He always liked you in red. That's why he liked making you blush. Now you were pale and your dress was ripped. Looking around, Jim found a damp rag and used it to gently wipe away the dirt smudged on your face.

Bones came over, setting a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I'll have Nurse Chapel take good care of her. You have a ship to command."

Jim nodded, knowing his gruff friend was right. "Let me know the moment she wakes."

Bones nodded, helping his friend up. "You'll be the first to know. Though I don't know why you would want the first thing she sees to be your face."

Jim cracked a smile, just what Bones wanted. Jim patted him on the shoulder. "Not every girl who gets hurt wants to see your face first either. You have the worst RBF."

For the next two weeks, Jim made sure to come see you at least once, bringing a vase of flowers the first time and new flowers every few visits. He wanted to make sure you had fresh ones, he knew how much you liked the smell of real fresh flowers. You laid there, unchanged but Jim kept his hopes up knowing you were strong.

It was late and Jim had just finished a long shift after running into space pirates. He was tired and all he wanted to do was sleep but his drive to see you was stronger. He sat at your side, holding your hand and gently running his fingertips up your arm like he used to do when you were both studying late in the Academy library.

A lump formed in his throat as he looked over your still body. "I was such an idiot."

He could hear you laugh and say something like "Of course you are. Took you long enough to figure that out. Now, if you could only accept the fact you are ugly as hell." He smirked at himself, letting out a small snort of air through his nose.

He closed his eyes as he took a deep breath. The battle raging in his mind was driving him nuts. So to quiet his own fight Jim thought it wouldn't hurt to tell you how he felt since you were in no shape to push him away. To yell at him. To tell him that you didn't feel the same.

He reached up and stroked your cheek, moving some hair behind your ear. "I am so sorry (Y/n). I pushed you away the moment we graduated. I was selfish and afraid of my own feelings." Jim paused, resting his chin on the bed as he gazed at you. "I liked the attention I was getting from- you know- I just didn't know how to settle down. How to stick to one choice.

"You know me. I'm reckless and stupidly lucky. But I can tell you I wasn't lucky the moment we parted ways. I wouldn't be surprised if you hated me. If you never wanted to see me again. I hate that it took you getting hurt for me to come to terms with my feelings but I can only hope that when you wake up I can prove to you that I care for you. That I-" Jim paused again.

Sitting up, he took a deep breath and held your hand to his lips, kissing your fingers lightly. "I love you. I think I always did, but I was too stupid to realize. Please, forgive me. Please, wake up. I want things to be how they were before where you would tease me, laugh like a mute seal, eat like a starving panda and look at me like I was your world."
