You Are NOT Your Illness

You are NOT your illness.

Maybe you are like me and you struggle with not identifying with your illness.

I have just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have been letting it define me and control me. But no more!

We are children of God! God wants us to define ourselves by Him and His goodness. We are NOT defined by our circumstances, a doctor's diagnoses, mental illnesses, chronic illnesses, or any kind of illness. We are His Child. He knows we are loved, cared for, fearfully, and wonderfully made. We are His prince or princess. We are loved by the King of Kings! We are NOT our illness!

Here is what God thinks of you:

You are beautiful. (Psalm 45:11)

You are unique. (Psalm 139:13)

You are loved. (Jeremiah 31:3)

You are special. (Ephesians 2:10)

You are created with a purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)

You are cared for. (Ephesians 3:17-19)

You are lovely. (Daniel 12:3)

You are precious. ( 1 Corinthians 6:20)

You are strong. (Psalm 18:35)

You are important. (1 Peter 2:9)

You are forgiven. ( Psalm 103:12)

You are protected. (Psalm 121:3)

You are chosen. (John 15:16)

You are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)

Verses:

"'I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.'" Jeremiah 29:11-13

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:19

"So how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1

Prayer:

Dear God,

Help me define myself by what you think of me. Help me not define myself by my illness. Help me define myself by being your child. Because you are the King of Kings. Help me define myself by your love, grace, and goodness.

I thank you for all my many blessings and for Your Son.

In Jesus's name, I pray, Amen!
