Identity.
Maybe right now, you don't know who you are. Maybe you are putting your identity into social media, what people think of you, or your looks. No matter who you are, what you are going through, or what you look like: God is here telling you to stop putting your identity in other things and put it in Him.
I know for the longest time, I put my identity in my illnesses. When I was depressed for years I called myself the depressed girl. Lately I have probably been putting my identity in my fibromyalgia. But that's not what I should be putting my identity at all! I should be putting my identity in being a child of God.
I know in our day and age it's easy to put our identity in how many likes we get on our Instagram photo or how many instagram followers we have. It's easy to forget who we really are. Who are we?
You are:
You are beautiful. (Psalm 45:11)
You are unique. (Psalm 139:13)
You are loved. (Jeremiah 31:3)
You are special. (Ephesians 2:10)
You are created with a purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)
You are cared for. (Ephesians 3:17-19)
You are lovely. (Daniel 12:3)
You are precious. ( 1 Corinthians 6:20)
You are strong. (Psalm 18:35)
You are important. (1 Peter 2:9)
You are forgiven. ( Psalm 103:12)
You are protected. (Psalm 121:3)
You are chosen. (John 15:16)
You are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
Now we need to put our identity in God. How? Pray to God to put your identity in Him, and work on changing your mindset. Slowly but surely you will be able to put your identity in God.
So let's put our identity in Christ today!
Verses:
"I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul." Psalm 31:7
"The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love." Psalm 103:8
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!" Psalm 139:17-18
"See how much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1
Prayer:
Dear God,
I pray you help me put my identity in you. Help me stop putting my identity in what people think of me, my looks, or social media. Help me to know who I am in Christ and help me grow closer to you.
I thank you for all my many blessings and for Your Son.
In Jesus's name, I pray, Amen!
