Rest

Rest.

Maybe right now with New Year coming up in a few days, rest is the last thing on your mind. Maybe you just love to be busy and hate to rest. Or you just feel you never have time to rest. No matter what your thoughts on rest: God wants you to sit down, take a deep breathe, grab your Bible, grab your prayer notebook, and rest in His presence.

I know in this fast paced world, rest isn't something everyone focuses on. I know my Mom is always doing something. She has a really hard time just sitting down and resting. But since I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia I have learned that sometimes, I just need to sit down in rest.

During the holidays it's hard to remember to rest. But God wants you to rest. God even had a day for rest which is Sunday. God wants us to work hard six days a week but on the seventh day, He wants to us to rest.

God also wants us to sit down, read our Bibles, pray, and spend time with Him. So with the New Year coming up in a few days, make one of your goals to rest and spend time with God.

God loves you and just wants to be close to you. But you have to make time for Him. You have to take the first step. God will wrap with loving, comforting, caring, helping, guiding, and forgiving arms around you. He will be by your side as you go through life. God never wanted us to do life on our own. God is here for you! He loves you more than you can ever imagine.

So let's use this New Year to rest and spend time with God!❤️

"Work six days and rest the seventh. Stop working even during plowing and harvesting. Exodus 34:21

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:28

"By the seventh day God had finished his work. On the seventh day he rested from all his work. God blessed the seventh day. He made it a Holy Day Because on that day he rested from his work, all the creating God had done. This is the story of how it all started, of Heaven and Earth when they were created." Genesis 2:2

Prayer:

Dear God,

I pray you help me this New Year by spending time with you and learn to rest. Help me as I spend time with you that I continue to grow closer to you. Help me as I rest to feel better.

I thank you for all my many blessings and for Your Son.
